Orellana Family, Missionaries to Ecuador and Latin America

Greetings from Quito-Ecuador, in the middle of the World!

We are Ecuadorians and grew up in Christian homes all our lives. God called us to the ministry at an early age and we have served Him through the years. Joselito began to pastor churches at the age of 17. Also, we have served as professors in the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary since 1991 until today. Joselito has been the leader of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention in the area of Theological Education for ten consecutive years and Rector of this Seminary for the last seven years. He has also served as Chaplain at the Voice of the Andes Christian Hospital of HCJB World Radio (WRMF) for 12 years, until May 2003.

Beginning 2003 we stepped out in faith to become missionaries by faith with Palm Missionary Ministries Inc. We serve full time in a pastoral training ministry at both formal and informal training settings in our country. Joselito is currently the senior theology teacher of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary, an itinerant preacher, co pastor at University Baptist Church from Quito, and member of the Board of Directors of Palm Missionary Ministries in Ecuador. Also he is writer for the Spanish Baptist Publishing House, from El Paso TX-USA.

Our basic areas of missionary ministry are: Theological Education, Pastoral Training, Pastoral Ministries, Leadership Development, Preaching, Pastoral Counseling & Christian therapy, Women’s Prison chaplain, Literature, Educative administration, and Christian Education for Children.

Anita and I have been married for sixteen years (February 24/95) and we have three biological daughters: Genesis (March 21/98), Galilee (September 28/00), and Bethlehem (September 30/04). So we have another adoptive daughter, her name is Michelle (October 27/93). Really she is my niece, but she is living with us because my sister Lourdes died with uterine cancer six years ago.

Our basic vision in the grace and blessing of the Lord is:
• To see every Baptist Church in Ecuador with a prepared leader guiding them biblically.
• To see the Seminary become a Baptist University in the future, to train more young people.
• To write books, sermons, articles, and conferences; and publish in few Editorials.
• To travel through Ecuador and Latin American offering conferences for pastors and leaders and formal intensive courses. Focus in the country side, and indigenous people.
• To see our daughters growing in the grace of the Lord Jesus and serving in the Kingdom of God.

The International Mission Board of the SBC, in survey taken in our country determined that less than 20% of the leaders and pastors have theological preparation. 80% of the pastors and leaders have not had the opportunity to adequately prepare themselves for ministry. We believe that we are responsible to prepare as many leaders as we are planting churches in Ecuador and Latin America, because this situation it’s same in other countries.

We come to you through this short letter, respectfully, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We humbly pray that you would consider cooperation in this ministry. SÍNTESIS BIOGRÁFICA Y MINISTERIAL DE JOSELITO ORELLANA

Breve historia. Joselito nació en la ciudad de Piñas, provincia de El Oro, el 7 de Abril de 1965; en el seno de una familia cristiana y campesina. Es el último de cuatro hermanos. Desde su infancia escuchó hablar de Jesús, es más, aprendió a leer y escribir con la Biblia, pues su madre era Profesora de Escuela y fue su primera mentora y maestra de Biblia. Su mundo fue el Colegio, la carpintería y finca de su padre, y la Iglesia bautista local. Y a pesar de su contexto muy humilde, múltiples enfermedades y circunstancias adversas, jamás decayó su convicción de hijo y siervo de Dios.
Conversión. Al tener tanta influencia bíblica, familiar como eclesial, con mucha naturalidad hizo su decisión de fe por el Señor Jesús como su Salvador personal, a la edad de 7 años de edad. Y aquella fue la primera de muchas decisiones de fe por Jesús. Su texto favorito siempre fue Gálatas 2:20, pues define la identidad, naturaleza y propósito de su vida.
Llamamiento. Al escuchar el testimonio del ministerio de sus primeros misioneros, Mel & Charlene Neill, a la edad de 10 años en un culto nocturno a mitad de semana de la Iglesia Bautista Nueva Vida del Toachi; recibió una fuerte convicción del Espíritu de Dios, de que había nacido para predicar y enseñar la Sagrada Escritura en muchos lugares. En medio de un profuso llanto, cuando la misionera le preguntó por qué lloraba –pensando que alguien lo había agredido-, solo atino a decir: “Yo quiero hacer lo que ustedes hacen, la próxima vez que ustedes vayan a predicar, quiero ir con ustedes” Él no entendía que eso era un llamamiento divino, lo asumiría después. Desde entonces, siempre entendió que la vida no vale nada sino la vive para Aquel que antes vivió por él: Jesús. Ahora su pasión en el Reino de Dios es: predicar, enseñar, escribir, y consolar.
Familia. Se casó con Anita hace 16 años, un 25 de febrero de 1995; y tienen cuatro hijas: Gabriela Michelle (17, sobrina adoptada); Génesis Alondra (13); Orquídea Galilea (10); y Ana Belén (7) Sirven juntos al Señor en su Reino, como familia misionera a tiempo completo, y todos con sus respectivos ministerios.
Trayectoria. Desde los 14 años de edad ya comenzó a enseñar clases de Escuela Dominical; a los 15 ya era presidente de la Sociedad de Jóvenes. Y a los 18 años, ya inició su tarea pastoral, bajo el ordenamiento de la Iglesia Bautista Cristo la Única Esperanza (CLUE) de Alluriquín - Santo Domingo. Ha servido como pastor principal, Co-pastor, asociado, y de jóvenes; de varias iglesias bautistas ininterrumpidamente desde entonces (CLUE, Iglesia Bautista Getsemaní de Quito, e IBU). Posteriormente ingresó al Seminario Teológico Bautista del Ecuador (STBE) a los 19 años, donde se graduó con honores de la Licenciatura en Teología, y allí comenzó una larga jornada de formación académica. Ha servido regionalmente como presidente y director de educación teológica en las Asociaciones Interprovincial y de Pichincha, respectivamente. A nivel nacional, ha servido continuamente desde el año 1991, como profesor permanente y titular del STBE, en las áreas de Teología, Biblia, y Pastoral; Director de Educación Teológica de CBE por 10 años, Rector del STBE por 8 años, y Consejero nacional de la JEBE por 8 años. En el contexto inter denominacional, ha sido Pastor-capellán de HCJB y el Hospital Vozandes por 12 años, y profesor de la Universidad Cristiana Latinoamericana por 7 años. A nivel internacional fue miembro del Comité de Oralidad del Pacto de Lausana, Suiza; escritor permanente de la Casa Bautista de Publicaciones de el Paso Texas-USA; profesor titular de la Vision International University, campus AL; y, consultor de organizaciones misioneras como GOI Intl., R&TIM, PMM Inc., e IMB-SBC en su programa REAP
Ministerios Actuales. Es misionero de una Junta misionera foránea de los USA (Palm Missionary Ministries Inc.) para América Latina en el área de educación teológica y pastoral, desde hace 15 años atrás. Y está involucrado en los ministerios de Docencia Teológica Superior, Entrenamiento Pastoral, Pastoral Eclesial, Consejería, Literatura, Grupos de USA, y Administración. Actualmente es: Co Pastor de la Iglesia Bautista Universitaria, de Quito; Profesor del Seminario Teológico Bautista del Ecuador; Profesor de la Universidad Internacional Visión, USA; y, Escritor para la Casa Bautista de Publicaciones-USA. Ha publicado varias obras teológicas y académicas, dentro y fuera del Ecuador. Pero la obra fresca y más esperada es la Nueva Biblia de Estudio Mundo Hispano, publicada por la CBP, en la que escribió todos los artículos, comentarios y notas exegéticas de Mateo y Lucas. Se espera su lanzamiento internacional para mayo del 2011.

OUR FAMILY
This year it was very blessed for us, we worked very hard in our missionary ministry. But also it was very sad too; because we had three burials in our home (my father and the parents of my wife Anita). So we had the wonderful experience to enjoy the grace, the guidance, and the presence of our Lord Jesus. Genesis & Galilee finished their missionary and biblical training as Messengers of the King Jesus. We have a special and nice graduation ceremony in our University Baptist Church. We are going to take vacations for two weeks, after four years…! Also, in this Christmas season, we want to give many thanks to you for your special gifts and economic support for us and our ministry during 2010. Thank so much in the name of my family for your love and care for us. We wish a Merry Christmas to you, and Happy New Year 2011.
OUR MINISTRY
In the end of this month, Joselito preached a special burial ceremony of senior pastor’s mom, from my home church.
Joselito was teaching at Tambo-Cañar, the last intensive course on Ministry’s Spiritual Life; of the Pastoral Training Program. We had thirty indigenous students there.
We are looking for new foreign mission board for us. Our last missionary agency, Palm Missionary Ministries Inc., invited us to return with them. And we are starting the process again, because it’s very important and urgent for us. They are very exciting for this new experience of partnership to work together for the Kingdom of God at Latin America.

MISCELLANEOUS
We had special Christmas celebration with our teachers of our High School at Pifo. Also we had another Christmas celebrations at our Girl’s Schools, our local mission church, and our home church. It was a nice experience to share the message of the Gospel of Jesus.

OUR FAMILY
We are fine enjoying the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus. We were to rest for few days in Chacauco Baptist Camp, in the middle of our country. Our daughters enjoying this place marvelously. Galilee (28) and Bethlehem (30) got their birthdays in September. Michelle got her seventeen birthdays (October 27) and special award in her High School. As missionary family we are looking for new board mission for us, because Global Outreach told us is necessary like special request, to attend to Tupelo MS for missionary training program, but it’s not possible for our visas. Pray please for that.

OUR MINISTRY
We had the BVS in our home church (UBC) Anita was the Field director of this project, and Joselito musician, coordinator and teacher.

Also we had a special retreat for planning of my service team of the University Baptist Church (UBC) Joselito was leading this job.

Joselito presented his book Toward a Baptist Identity, in special ceremony (2000 copies) Praise to the Lord for this special gift for the Kingdom of God. You can see the cover attached. You can see the invitation and pictures attached. It was a wonderful experience to share this job with my brother of many Baptist churches in Ecuador. In fact, this book it’s in New York too, because we have many Hispanic Baptists churches there.

We continue serving in our home church, very hard: preaching, teaching in Sunday school, and sharing conferences for marriages, pastoral counseling, leading academically our High School, etc.

MISCELLANEOUS
Joselito preached in special ceremony of graduation of Bible Institute from Baptist Association of Quito. Also participating in their annual meeting.

Also preached in special ceremony of fifteen year of pastor’s daughters an indigenous Baptist church in Quito.

Intensive course presented for Dr. David Sills on Missiology, in our Baptist camp in Chacauco. Joselito was his driver and collaborator only.

And we had the visit of our big partner Jaime Siman (www.elvela.com), he was sharing special conferences about scientific creationism in our Baptist Seminary, High School and another places.

Joselito was teaching few intensives courses for Vision International University at Machala, Guayaquil, and Quito.

Also Joselito and his wife were collaborating with the annual meeting of National Baptist Women of Ecuador. This convention it was in our home church.

OUR FAMILY
Anita's mom died (November 23) after fifteen months with cancer, waiting to dead. She was in Guayaquil two weeks for that. Anita is much better now, but she needs to rest and to be strong in the grace of our Lord Jesus. But anyway, we are fine enjoying the grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

OUR MINISTRY
We continue serving in our home church, very hard: preaching, teaching in Sunday school, and sharing conferences for marriages, pastoral counseling, leading academically our High School, etc. Also, leading the little mission church of UBC in Calderon, sharing: bible studies, bible club for kids, etc.

Joselito and Anita was sharing special conferences for Christian couples, talking about the family vital cycle.

In the end of this month, Joselito preached and ministered a special marriage ceremony of a couple our home church. It was very nice Christian service and party.

MISCELLANEOUS
As Baptists believers, we had the annual meeting of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention. Unfortunately is the same situation those eight years ago, because the president was reelected. For that, Joselito resigned his charge as Rector of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary, because this president has bud doctrine.

Our partner and missionary friend, Dr. David Sills coming again to our country to share two intensives courses at Ambato (Baptist camp in Chacauco Valley)

OUR FAMILY
This is vacation time for our daughters, who are very excited for the break. Anita and our daughters went to Guayaquil for a week to visit her mother. Additionally, our nephew Andrew turned fifteen and we were able to celebrate and give glory to our Lord Jesus for his life. Joselito is very busy but so glad to serve to the Lord Jesus. Please pray that he is able to get a time of rest and retreat very soon!

OUR MINISTRY

Our mission church received a special short-term mission group from the USA (Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, North Caroline). They were here in association with the REAP program of the International Mission Board. We had VBS in the morning, visitation and discipleship in the afternoon, and evangelistic services each night. It was a wonderful experience to see the grace of our Lord Jesus among us.
Joselito had a short trip to Cañar to attend the graduation ceremony for one of his students.
Joselito preached for the special graduation ceremoney in our home church.
We had a special prayer time in our little mission church in Calderon.
Joselito taught a conference on God's calling for couples in our home church.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito is finishing the edits on his upcoming book, Personal Biblical Ethics.
Earlier this month a wonderful brother in Christ and good servant died, Charles Rexroad. He was a missionary with Palm Missionary Ministries and worked in Ecuador his entire life.

OUR FAMILY
We are enjoying the grace and care of our Lord. Our daughters are finishing their classes this month. Anita is okay, but continues to pray for her mother without ceasing as she is still very ill. Joselito is very busy with ministry. Praise to the Lord for His love for us!

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito continue preaching in the Sunday morning service at our home church and teaching the couples Sunday School class with Anita.

Additionally, we have had many work meetings because we are leading many changes in our home church and in the High School associated with the church.
Joselito taught an intensive course on pastoral training in Cañar for the ministry training program.

OUR FAMILY
Our daughters, Genesis & Galilee, sang at special concert with the Franz Liszt Conservatory. They are members of the children's choir and we are very proud of them. Anita is doing well, even though her mother's health continues to be very poor. Joselito is happy, but very busy. We are all enjoying the grace of our Lord Jesus.

OUR MINISTRY
Joselito continues preaching for the main Sunday morning service in our church. Additionally, both Joselito and Anita continue to teach the couples Sunday School class. Additionally we have had many meetings as we continue to lead through many changes in our church and the school associated with the church.

MISCELLANEOUS
• Joselito preached a special service for Candelaria Baptist Church.
• Joselito received a special Baptist group from the USA. The Phoenix Community of Atlanta, who has an idea to reach university students through a coffee program. You can see more information about them at: www.phoenixatl.org, www.phoenixcommunitycoffee.com. Our church has a similar vision as we are directly across the street from the Central University.
• Joselito participated in the graduation ceremony of Vision International University, as he functions as a teacher for them.

OUR FAMILY

Pray for Anita as she continues to suffer since her mother continues to be very sick. Also, I celebrated my birthday this month and am thankful to be serving the Lord (even if I am very old!) We had special service for our new mission in Calderon. Our daughters are doing well as well.

OUR MINISTRY

We had special service for Holy Week in our home church (University Baptist Church) and Joselito preached on The Seven Words on the Cross. Also, we continue serving through various ministries within the church.
We received a short-term mission team from the USA and Joselito went with them to Shell to work for a week. The group served with a poor orphanage with over 60 children in very dire circumstances.
Joselito taught a marriage conference for couples at our church.
Joselito went to Bolivia for ten days for academic purposes. The primary goal was to attempt to forge academic partnerships. He visited the Bolivian Evangelical University in Santa Cruz, the Baptist Theological Seminary in Cochabamba, and others. He also preached at the Baptist Church in Santa Cruz. He will return to Cochabamba in November to teach an intensive course for pastors. The situation it’s very difficult as 90% of the Baptist churches in Bolivia don’t have trained pastors.

OUR FAMILY

Our oldest biological daughter, Genesis turned twelve on March 21. It was a wonderful time. She is growing in the grace and commitment to the Lord.
Genesis & Galilee received special scholarships to study music and participate in the choir of the Franz Liszt Conservatory. They attend the class every Monday and Wednesday, and now they are singing in special concerts around Quito. We are very proud of them and praise our Lord Jesus for our daughters.
Bethlehem graduated to the Rays of Sun teaching program and is also shining for Christ!
Additionally, Anita went to Guayaquil to visit her mother who is terminally ill.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito taught an intensive course in Quito on Introduction to the Theology.
Joselito has been preaching in our home church on the topic of healthy Christian families for the whole month.
We received two different mission teams from the USA this month for the purpose of trying to discern the possibility of working together on a future Baptist University in Ecuador.
We participated and led a special pastoral training program with David Rogers (the Adrian Rogers Team), in our home church with fifty pastors attending.

Anita went to Guayaquil for a few days to visit her family and spend time with her mother, who is very sick.

OUR FAMILY

We have posted pictures of Michelle and Genesis’ baptism in our home church on Sunday, December 27. It was an amazing experience.
My father Joaquin (1917-2010), died on January 12th and 5:30PM in Quito, three days after his surgery. He went to the glory of God in peace. Now he is resting in the grace and presence of my Lord Jesus. We are enjoying the peace of our Lord. We had wonderful burial service and Joselito preached.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito led the New Year’s retreat for our home church.
Joselito continues preaching for our home church on Baptist doctrine. We continue working in the little mission Baptist church in Calderon.

Two days after his father’s burial, Joselito led two conferences in Guayaquil for the National Congress of Christian Education as a representative of the Spanish Baptist Publishing House. There were one thousand people in attendance.
Joselito sent his final project to the SBPH (notes, articles, etc. on the Gospel of Luke) for the New Hispanic World Study Bible.
Joselito spoke on a special document to the government representative at a conference on freedom of religion in our home church.

OUR FAMILY

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2010! We are doing well. Anita turned 39 on December 30. She was a little sick with the flu, but is much better now. Michelle & Genesis were baptized in our home church. It was marvelous for us to see our daughters testifying about their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. We made a very important decision about our missionary partnership this month. We resigned from Palm Missionary Ministries, to be missionaries with Global Outreach International. OUR MINISTRY

Joselito continues preaching & teaching in our home church on Baptist doctrine.
We had an intensive course in Tambo-Cañar province on Baptist doctrine. Joselito was able to use his new book for that.
We helped host a group from SBTS in the USA.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito led a special marriage ceremony in an indigenous community, Tolte, in Chimborazo province. It was a nice experience and he was able to preach to almost 300 people at the service.
Joselito helped with pastoral counseling at one of our Baptist churches in Quito as they were having many problems. We have also continued counseling several couples.

OUR FAMILY

Joselito has been very busy writing for his project with the Spanish Baptist Publishing House. He is working on the notes on Luke for the New Hispanic World Study Bible.
Galilee was sick with laryngitis and then Genesis caught it as well, but they are fine now.
Anita has spent a lot of time in Guayaquil visiting her mother who is suffering from brain cancer and other complications.
Please pray for us as we are making an important decision for our ministry. We are considering the possibility of serving through Global Outreach International (www.globaloutreach.org), because it is a better fit for us and our ministry.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito has continued preaching in our home church on Baptist doctrine. He also taught a special Survey of the Bible course this month.
We celebrated the annual meeting of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention at a very nice indigenous location in Cañar province.
We celebrated an indigenous Christian marriage in Tambo-Cañar. This was a wonderful experience that allowed us to experience more of indigenous culture.
Joselito taught a special conference on Anabaptists and Radical Reform at the Baptist Seminary in Quito.
We held a special event for our family ministry this month and showed the movie, A Promise to Keep. This was a great opportunity to discuss the importance of the marriage commitment.

MISCELLANEOUS
Joselito preached at the 35th anniversary of New Life Baptist Church. The Church is in a rural area, 80 miles from Quito, in the mountains. This was Joselito’s first church, so it was wonderful to be there.

OUR FAMILY

Our adopted daughter Michelle turned 16 on October 27. She is growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord. She and Geneis are taking a special class on baptism that will be followed by a baptism service on December 6 in our home church. Praise to the Lord for that! My father Joaquin was with us for one week because he is very sick. He is 92 years old, has been using a pacemaker for ten years, and now has a problem with the circulation in his legs. His condition it’s very critical.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito continues preaching on the basics of Baptist doctrine in our home church.
We have had several board meetings in our home church to reorganize the ministry. Joselito is leading this process.
Joselito continues writing the exposition of Luke for the New Hispanic World Study Bible for SBPH in El Paso, Texas.
We celebrated the first anniversary of our mission in Calderon, which is north of Quito. We continue to be very excited for all the Lord is doing in this area of our ministry.
Joselito taught at the monthly couples conference at our church. His topic was on marriage and sexuality.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito taught an intensive course on Biblical Hermeneutics at the Quito campus of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary.
We attended a special missions conference organized by HCJB Global Hands. It is a new and interesting resource for Latin Americans missionaries.
We had a meeting with the sales representative from the Spanish Baptist Publishing House to determine how we might be able to use more of their materials for our ministry (church, pastoral training, seminary).

OUR FAMILY

Our daughters are back in class, which is great because this gives us an opportunity to focus more on our work. We stay busy with ministry during this time. We are suffering as a result of our very low budget. Please pray for us to get more donors for our ministry and family.

OUR MINISTRY

We had a special national meeting for academic accreditation for the program for Baptist pastors. Joselito, as rector of the seminary, led and taught for the meeting. We had approximately 300 people who attended the meeting held at Chacauco Baptist Camp. This national meeting was called for by the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention and provided academic support for the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary.
We had a special business meeting in our home church to finish the legal documents for the government. It was very long and exhausting meeting, but was necessary.
Joselito continued preaching in our home church on the biblical and theological principles of Baptist doctrine. He also taught on biblical submission in marriage for the monthly conference for Christian couples in our church.
Joselito continues writing the exposition on Luke for the New Hispanic World Study Bible SBPH. He has completed Matthew- Praise the Lord!

MISCELLANEOUS

We are providing pastoral counseling for a few families from other Baptist churches who have significant family problems.
Joselito taught an intensive course on Biblical Hermeneutics at The Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary on the Quito campus.

OUR FAMILY

August was the end of my daughter’s summer vacation, which they enjoyed very much. They return to school in September. Anita is much better now, as her mother’s medical condition is more stable. Joselito is a bit tired and concerned about many ministry issues- please pray for him!

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito continues preaching in our home church on the biblical nature of stewardship. He also taught the monthly conference for couples in our home church, focusing on The Family of Jesus.
We held Vacation Bible School in our home church. It was both an encouraging time and a difficult one, as it was so busy. Every day we had to complete many tasks: leading, teaching, leading worship, driving and bringing our mission kids, etc. We had 70 children participate and ended with a special service with all the families, many who were not Christians.
Joselito finished the full revision of our legal documents for our home church. This is very important for the government now.
We continue working in our new Baptist mission. We are now praying and looking for ministry support from our home church, because it’s very hard for us.

MISCELLANEOUS

We had special mission trip to visit our Baptist church in Alluriquín. Joselito pastured this church for eleven years many years ago. They had requested we come and help because they needed our pastoral support for few problems. While there, we visited our family there, especially Joselito’s father who turned 92 on August 21, and his sister in law Becky, because she is very sick.
We are also providing pastoral counseling to a few families from other baptist churches.

Missionary Prayer Letter- July 2009

OUR FAMILY

Our daughters are enjoying their summer vacation that runs from July until September. Anita went to Guayaquil for three weeks to stay with her mother who is very sick in the hospital. Her medical prognosis is very bad, but we are continuing to pray to our God who is able to heal.

OUR MINISTRY

The senior pastor of our home church resigned, so Joselito is taking on a lot of his work (preaching, meetings, counseling, conferences, etc). Joselito preached two sermons in our home church this month. He focused on the biblical foundation of stewardship. Joselito also taught the monthly conference for the couples in our home church.
We are working very hard (as a ministry board) to complete the new legal documents for the government as their requests are changing rapidly.
We had a special graduation ceremony for our School of Ministry in Tambo-Cañar (an indigenous province). Five indigenous students graduated. During the same week as the graduation, Joselito taught the next intensive course in that program, focusing on church administration.
We are continuing to teach Bible study every Thursday at our new Baptist mission. We also hold a Bible club for children each Saturday. The mission is growing marvelously!
We finished our ministry with Candelaria Baptist Church this month, as we need to concentrate on our many other ministries.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito was invited by the Spanish Baptist Publishing House (based in Texas in the USA) to write the commentary of Matthew and Luke in the New Study Bible-Hispanic World. He has begun working on this task and needs to be finished by September. Pray for this wonderful task and opportunity.
We attended an extraordinary national meeting of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention. The purpose was to complete many legal documents in front of the Ecuadorian Government. Pray for our country, because the legal request for churches, seminaries, and other Christian organizations are changing very quickly.

For Anita mother who is very sick. She has cerebral cancer .

OUR FAMILY

Anita and Genesis took a trip to the Galapagos Islands. This trip was a special gift for Genesis for completing elementary school, as well as for Anita for completing her master’s degree. Also, Bethlehem graduated from pre-Kindergarten and was very excited.
We received sad news this month as Joselito's sister in law, Becky, was diagnosed with chronic renal insufficiency. She is now taking dialysis and will eventually need a kidney transplant. Also this month, Anita's mother was diagnosed with brain cancer. She is now completing physical and occupational therapy.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito taught an intensive course on the Introduction of Theology at the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary. We are progressivenly expanding the scope of this ministry.
Joselito preached three sermons about Biblical Stewardship at our home church.
Anita continues visiting the women’s prison each Wednesday and teaches the Bible there.
We are teaching the New Testament at the new Baptist mission every Thursday night using the New Testament in audio (Quichua and Spanish). We also had a baby shower for some members, as well as holding an additional organizational meeting in our home.
We have continued to have several meetings with the ministry board of our home church as Joselito helps them transition to a more biblical governing structure.
Joselito also taught a special parenting conference at our home church.

MISCELLANEOUS

We went to Santo Domingo (90 miles from Quito) to vote.
Anita went to the Guayaquil to visit her mother during her hospitalization for brain cancer.
We hosted our partner and ministry mentor, Dr. David Sills, to plan future theological education projects.

For the Anita’s mother as she is very sick.
For Michelle as she needs to take a very long dental treatment and it’s very expensive. She started this process. Joselito also needs to start his dental treatment. Pray for support for that.

OUR FAMILY

Anita graduated on May 8. She now holds a Master in Christian Counseling, which we pray will be a wonderful tool for the Kingdom of God. We are all doing well. Genesis is doing much better as she continues dental treatment. We are very excited as we have had 5100 visitors to our blog. Praise the Lord Jesus for this! We have received messages from countries around of the world encouraging us and asking for permission to use Joselito’s documents available for download on the blog (sermons, conferences, courses, etc…).

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito preached three sermons in our home church this month focusing on stewardship. He also taught on the biblical role of fathers to the parents in our home church.
Anita taught her monthly class to the couples in our church, focusing on developing Christian character and discipline.
We are teaching through the New Testament at the Baptist Mission each Thursday evening. We are utilizing the audio of the New Testament in both Quichua and Spanish to reach as many people as possible.
We had several significant meetings with the Board of our home church as we are in the process of adopting a new, more biblical, ecclesiological structure. Joselito is working very hard to steward and shepherd this process.
We held an intensive theological training course for the School of Ministry, this time held in Tambo-Cañar province. Thirty indigenous leaders attended the Survey of the New Testament class that Joselito taught. The class concluded with the whole group participating in a mission trip to the indigenous community of Santa Isabel.
After the class concluded, Joselito went to Guayaquil for meetings with the Board of the Baptist Seminary.

MISCELLANEOUS

We met with the leaders of Global Outreach International to get to know the work and ministry of this organization.
Joselito taught two missions conferences on growing and planting churches at Candelaria Baptist Church. He has also continued teaching Survey of the Bible each Wednesday.
We went to Santo Domingo (90 miles from Quito) to teach a for the Regional Baptist Association. Anita taught on biblical sexuality and Joselito spoke on Hermeneutics, Homiletics, and Pastoral topics.

OUR FAMILY

Joselito celebrated his 44th birthday on April 7. We are very busy with ministry but are also so glad for the opportunity to serve in Kingdom work. We are suffering due to the economic impact of the global financial situation. We have many needs right now. Pray for that please.

OUR MINISTRY

A group from of our supporting church in Louisville KY USA came to help us in the new mission in Calderon. The time with them to work and grow in fellowship and partnership was helpful and an encouragement. We taught a Bible club for kids, discipleship classes, held medical clinics, and evangelistic campaigns.
Joselito continues preaching in our home church on the Passion, Mission and Vision of the Biblical Church. He also preached in the special services during Holy Week.
We started Sunday school classes in our New Mission. We are holding classes for preschoolers, teenagers, and adults.
We went as family to visit the Baptist Church in Pedro Vicente Maldonado (87 miles from Quito) to share Samaritan’s Purse shoeboxes with the children there.
We also visited the New Life Baptist Church in Toachi to help with their Sunday School and to assist with the installation and setup of their new laptop and digital projector we helped them get.
Joselito led a special conference for couples in our home church, focusing on the biblical response to divorce.
Joselito & Anita held a Sunday School conference in our home church. 50 people from several different churches attended.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito has a special meeting with our Administrator of PMM Inc, Bill Quesenberry in Quito to talk about our future.
Joselito continues to support the project working toward a Baptist University. We have a special committee for this goal. The process is very long, but we are seeing the Lord work in this situation.
We will continue helping Candelaria Baptist Church for the next three months and then we will focus more on our own ministry.

OUR FAMILY

Praise to the Lord, Anita presented her Final Project for her Master’s Degree in Family Christian Therapy. The graduation ceremony will be held on May 8. Genesis, our oldest biological daughter, had her eleventh birthday on March 21. She is growing marvelously in the grace of our Lord Jesus. We constantly praise the Lord for her. Our nephew Andrew stayed with us during his break from school. He lives with my sister Ligia in Santo Domingo, 95 miles from Quito.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito continues working very hard on the new structure of University Baptist Church. He leads the pastoral board in and just held a special retreat for this group.
Joselito taught an intension course in Tambo, an indigenous city 250 miles from Quito. This was the second course this year for the School of Ministry. The course was on Bibliology and 35 students attended.
Joselito is preaching in our home church on the topic of the Passion, Mission and Vision of the Biblical Church.
We received a group from our supporting church in Louisville, KY at the end of March. We will share about this group and ministry in our next letter.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito has a special meeting with members of the International Mission Board (SBC-USA) to talk about some projects for us to work together. For example, they are talking about special and intensive programs for pastoral training to the pastors and leaders in all our country.
This month Joselito taught an intensive course on Systematic Theology at the Latin-American Christian University.
Joselito taught a special conference to independent Baptist youth on Toward Baptist Identity.

OUR PRAYER REQUESTS & NEEDS

Praise to the Lord for the new Baptist church that we are opening in an indigenous community. We average 25 people every Thursday.
Praise to the Lord, because we have the opportunity to print my book, Toward a Baptist Identity, this year in Ecuador.
Continue praying for our ministry funds as we are helping to the poor people in many ways, including local missionaries in the countryside.

Missionary Prayer Letter- February 2009

OUR FAMILY

We are doing well through the grace of our Lord Jesus, even though our country is suffering as a result of serious weather conditions. We had to cancel some trips because it’s impossible to drive on the highways due to the various problems.

OUR MINISTRY

We are helping some Christian families with medical care because they do not have the financial resources necessary.
We had a special ordination service in our home church, for both deacons and pastors.
Joselito officiated the ceremony and preached the ordination message as well.
Joselito preaches twice a month at our home church and Anita has continued serving with pastoral counseling to a few families.
Joselito is working very hard to organize a new leadership structure at our home church so that it is a consistently biblical model.
Joselito held a special conference for Christian couples in our home church.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito is currently the manager of the Pastoral Council of the Baptist Association in Quito. He is training the council on ethics issues. He is also writing documents that are very important and strategic.

OUR PRAYER REQUESTS & NEEDS

Praise the Lord, because Anita is concluding her masters program.
Continue praying for our budget…please! We are very worried about it!
We need special donations to print our books and other funds for ministry as we are helping many poor people.
Pray for our next mission team coming from the USA in March.

OUR FAMILY

Special greetings in this new year! We had a special time together at the end of the 2008. We set new goals and dreamed for the future. Don't forget to pray for our financial support because it's very low right now.

OUR MINISTRY

We had a special celebration for the 15th birthday of a sweet girl who is part of Candelaria Baptist Church. Joselito preached at the service and guided the party.
Joselito also preached for a deacons conference at our home church (University Baptist Church). He also preached two sermons on Ephesians in the Sunday services.
We are providing pastoral counseling to a few Christian's families.
We had the first intensive course in Tambo-Cañar (an indigenous province) of the School of Ministry. Joselito taught a course on Missiology (eight hours each day for one week) to thirty five students from the rural areas.

MISCELLANEOUS

We had a special meeting with the board of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary at Chacauco Baptist Camp. The meeting was in Patate, 130 miles from Quito. We discussed the possibility of reopening the intensive program of the EBTS at Chacauco Baptist Camp. We also discussed the option of joining with the Pacific Baptist University there. Please pray for this as it is a big long term goal of many Ecuadorian Baptists.
Joselito is now the assistant to the Pastoral Council of the Baptist Association in Quito. He is training the council in ethical issues.

OUR FAMILY

Special Christmas greetings to you. Our prayer is that in the New Year you can enjoy the complete grace of our Lord Jesus every day. Anita visited her father in Guayaquil for a few days because he is very sick. We had a few Christmas parties during this month, especially at our daughters' school and our various churches.We want to say thanks so much for your love and care for us, during 2008. It has been a wonderful experience of God's grace to serve together to our Lord and Savior Jesus. Thanks forever!

OUR MINISTRY

We have discovered that the website, www.fcbh.org has the NIV version of the New Testament in Spanish and Quichua. It's a very helpful tool for Bible study with illiterate people. Praise the Lord for that!
We have planning meetings at Candelaria Baptist Church every Tuesday. We are charting their structure and strategic profile (vision, mission, budget, organizational chart, rules, etc.) for the next five years.
Joselito led a special conference for deacons in our home church (University Baptist Church)
We are counseling a few Christian couples.
We had the annual meeting of our home church, University Baptist Church, and the people told us that our continued help was their greatest need. So Joselito will continue as associate pastor and Anita will continue as the women's ministry leader.

MISCELLANEOUS

We are participating in missions study by a US-based academic institution www.pacnet4mission.org with other seminaries in Ecuador.
We had a special meeting with Steve Thompson, missionary with Global Outreach, to discuss the possibility of reopening the intensive program of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary at Chacauco Baptist Camp. In the future, we also want to start Pacific Baptist University at that location. Pray for this significant dream that is held among Ecuadorian Baptists.

Missionary Prayer Letter- November 2008

OUR FAMILY

Anita visited her father for a few days in Guayaquil because he is terminally ill.Galilee graduated from the missions program Sunbeams in our home church. We were very excited for her. Genesis is well; Bethlehem was somewhat sick with the flu, but she is much better now; and Michelle is ok too.
We are enjoying the grace of our Lord Jesus, even though the economic situation (in USA and Latin America) is having a significant effect on our budget. We are wondering how to increase our support for the next year and hoping to get some local support in Ecuador. Currently, we are not receiving any support from here. We are praying about this need and sending a few letters to the local leadership asking them to help.

OUR MINISTRY

Anita continues visiting the women's prison in Quito every Wednesday along with other missionaries from USA. She really enjoys this ministry, but is also very broken for the situation these women are facing.
Joselito taught an intensive course (three Saturdays, eight hours each) on Introduction to Theology at the Baptist Seminary in Quito. This was the first course in the current academic year.
We had the final intensive course for one week (eight hours per day) of our School of Ministry in Quito. Joselito taught a course on Missiology. We went to the middle of the World monument as a special trip for the end of the activities in this year.
Joselito taught at a special couples conference on romance in Christian marriage. We are also helping with pastoral counseling to some Christian couples.
Anita taught at a special conference for ladies in our home church (University Baptist Church). That's part of series of conferences, about the women in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus.
At the end of this month, Joselito preached in our home Church (University Baptist Church).

MISCELLANEOUS

We had our annual meeting of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention in El Tena, in the Ecuadorian Amazonian region (250 miles from Quito). We have big goals for the next year for our seminary. For example, we hope to recover our some of what we have lost in recent years through restructuring and economic hardhsips. Joselito assisted with some of the conferences about theological education.
We are helping Candelaria Baptist Church with their strategic plan for the next five years. They need a lot of help because it is the first time they have gone through this process in 29 years.
We had the annual meeting of our mission agency, Palm Missionary Ministries, here in Quito. Anita attended to represent our family because Joselito was teaching in the Baptist Seminary.

OUR FAMILY

We celebrated Bethlehem's birthday at her school with her classmates. She was very excited. Pray for Michelle because she started her dental treatment that will last for the next two years. It is very expensive and painful. Michelle celebrated her fifteenth birthday on October 27. We are going to have a special service for her on December 6 because November will be so busy for us.

OUR MINISTRY

Anita has begun going to the women's prison with a group of female missionaries every Wednesday. She teaches Bible studies and counsels the inmates.
Joselito preached at New Life Baptist Church and Anita taught children's Sunday School. We were also there for the vote on the national constitution.
Joselito also preached in the celebratory service for the anniversary of Candelaria Baptist church. It was very nice experience that ended with a special festival of indigenous food.
We have continued teaching the Introduction to Bible course at Candelaria every Wednesday. We also led a special marriage conference for them.
We also began the regularly scheduled classes at the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary in Quito. Joselito taught a few special conferences on God's call and the importance of theological education.
Joselito preached at "Love Built Baptist Church". This is part of our goal to visit every Baptist church in Quito sometime in the next year to encourage them.
Joselito was invited to attend a Pastoral Training School for two days in Quito. It was a time of spiritual refreshment for him. This program is supported by Woodstock Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia and Northside Baptist Church in North Carolina.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito taught an intensive course on missiology at Vision International University.
Our marriage mentors Jim & Hilda Miller came for a visit. It was wonderful to see again them because they were our teachers at the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary in Quito and they also served as mentors when we were preparing to get married.
We had special retreat for two days for strategic planning for Candelaria Baptist Church, in La Merced Baptist Camp.
We participated in the ordination of two pastors at Shekinah Baptist Church in south Quito.We received training from the Ecuadorian Bible League to use special recorders to share the Bible with people who cannot read and write.

OUR FAMILY

Our daughters started the school year this month. We are very excited because Bethlehem started school for the first time. She is very interested but it's a little sad for us to see her beginning school. We would like to take the family to the Galapagos Islands to learn more about this marvelous place. However, it's very expensive, so we are looking for funds for that.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito preached in our home church (University Baptist Church) twice this month. He preached on: the biblical understanding on the Great Commission and on the process of evangelization.
We held another intensive course. The class met for five days, 8 hours per day for our School of Ministry. This time we met in Ducur, Cañar province (430 miles from Quito). Joselito taught Christian Ethics (A Study on the Ten Commandments). We had 50 indigenous students. Joselito also preached in evangelistic services each night.
We began weekly services in the new Baptist church. We are praying for a regular place to meet and for a future chapel.
We are counseling a few young Christian couples in serious family crises. Please pray for us to have wisdom and understanding.
We had a special meeting with the mission team from Candelaria Baptist Church that we are leading. We will be helping with the new Baptist church in Calderon.
Joselito is teaching an exposition of the book of Titus in Sunday School and preaching through the book in the Sunday service as well.

MISCELLANEOUS

We had a special retreat with our faculty from The Baptist Seminary in Quito. The purpose was to enjoy fellowship and to have special meetings before classes begin in October.
Joselito is hoping to print his book, Toward a Baptist Identity in Quito, but I need funds to do so.
Pray for this, please, because I want to have this book ready for the annual meeting of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention that will be held on November 1-3.

For a special place to build the Chapel for the new mission in Calderon
For our budget, we need to grow our economic support very quickly. It's very low.
Joselito needs to publish his books. Please pray for the funds to do that please as it is very expensive in my country.

Missionary Prayer Letter- August 2008

OUR FAMILY

We are doing well and enjoying the abundant grace of our Lord Jesus. Praise to the Lord for that! Please forgive my tardiness with this prayer letter. We had a very busy ministry over the summer.

OUR MINISTRY

We hosted a short term mission team from our church in the USA for 10 days earlier this month. We had Vacation Bible School, evangelistic messages, Bible studies, special music, personal testimonies, personal evangelism, and discipleship. It was a great experience because we were able to begin a new Baptist church in an indigenous community near of our home.
We went to Puerto Lopez (at the beach 440 miles from Quito in Manabí province) on a family mission trip for few days. We led the group of a total of 50 people from Candelaria Baptist Church. The purpose was to fellowship with the Baptist church in Puero Lopez, to support their ministry, and to enjoy the sea and other tourist places. We were able to observe the whales at sea. It was a wonderful experience for us.

MISCELLANEOUS

The Baptist Seminary in Quito will reopen in October 2008. We are very excited for the opening and expecting the Lord Jesus to bless the efforts.
Joselito resigned his position as president of Palm Ministries in Ecuador due to time obligations. He is very busy with his ministry and family. This situation has been difficult, but it was necessary to make the change. He served in this capacity for one year and now He needs to focus on his family and ministry.

OUR PRAYER REQUESTS & NEEDS

Pray for our budget, we need to increase our economic support quickly. We need to buy the materials for our four daughters to the new academic year.
Pray for Joselito’s new books. Is not easy to print those books because it’s very expensive in Ecuador.

OUR FAMILY
We are fine in the grace of our Lord Jesus. Our daughters are on vacation this month. They need to rest and enjoy this time. It is a busy time of ministry for us because we are expecting several missions trips.

OUR MINISTRY

We continue with our ministry in the indigenous church, Candelaria Baptist Church. We lead Bible studies every Wednesday, hold conferences and Joselito regularly preaches. We are also going to work on a new Baptist church plant in our neighborhood. Pray for that please.
We had another intensive course for our School of Ministry. This time the meeting was in Pedro Vicente Maldonado (85 miles from Quito). Joselito was teaching Bibliographic Research eight hours per day). Also, he was preaching in evangelistic services each night.
Joselito went to Guayaquil for the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary board meetings. He also taught an intensive course on theology at Vision International University.

MISCELLANEOUS

We are helping reopen the Baptist Seminary in Quito. We have been updating the curriculum and addressing other issues. The seminary in Guayaquil is doing ok.

Missionary Prayer Letter- June 2008

OUR FAMILY

We are fine in the grace of our Lord Jesus. We have been sick, but are feeling much better now. Our daughters are on summer vacation from June 25 until August 25. They are very excited for the time off to play and have adventures. Please pray for us and our monthly budget.

OUR MINISTRY

This month we hosted a family from the USA who came as short term missionaries for three weeks. They are students at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kentucky. They have six children; three girls and three boys; aged 11, 9, 7, 5, 3, and 1. They came to serve with us in our ministry for three weeks. It was a great experience for us for to share our family, ministry, language, country, and ministry with them.
We had many different ministry opportunities while they were here for the mission trip. For example, we visited a few Christian camps, shared personal testimonies, met with representatives from many missions agencies, conducted bible studies & seminary classes, preached at Candelaria Baptist Church and evangelistic services; visited an orphanage, and taught in a Back Yard Bible Club. We also had the opportunity to visit a few famous Ecuadorian places, such as: Chacauco- Patate, Latacunga, Otavalo, Cotacachi, Cuicocha, Colonial Quito, Mitad del Mundo (the middle of the world), Teleferico in Quito, Pululahua Volcano, Tungurahua Volcano, Pichincha Volcano, and many others.
We have continue with our ministry at the indigenous church, Candelaria Baptist Church. We teach Bible studies every Wednesday, lead special conferences, and Joselito often preaches. We are also going to help with a new Baptist church plant in our neighborhood. Please pray for these efforts.

MISCELLANEOUS

We helping with the reopening of the Baptist Seminary in Quito. We are updating the curriculum and other aspects of the program.
As President of Palm Ministries in Ecuador, Joselito is helping with the administration of the local Palm Ministries office. It is not easy to add this responsibility to all he is doing, but he needs to help his fellow missionaries and brothers & sisters in Christ.

OUR PRAYER REQUESTS & NEEDS

Pray for Anita. She is completing the requirements for her master's degree.
Pray for Joselito's new books. We need quite a bit of money to print some books for indigenous pastors in our own country.
We really need some time to rest and are looking for a way to take a vacation. Pray for the necessary funds for that, please.

OUR FAMILY

We took a family vacation to rest and spend time together. We went to Imbabura province with our family as well as some extended family- my father, sister, niece Michelle, and nephews Italo and Andres.

OUR MINISTRY

We are offering a new Wednesday night Bible study on Survey of the Bible every Wednesday night this month at Candelaria Baptist Church. Joselito also preached in Sunday morning service at Candelaria and served the Lord's Supper.
Joselito taught a special conference on biblical fatherhood for Christian's couples in our home church.
Joselito preached the funeral of a very good friend, engineer Walter Chavez. He was president of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention twenty years ago and was a wonderful believer in Christ and servant of Lord Jesus.
We held the graduation ceremony of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary in Quito in his honor and memory. There were four students who graduated with Bachelor degrees and two students with Elementary Certification.
We had another session of our School of Ministry in our home church. Joselito taught on Biblical Hermeneutics and wrote special material for this event.

MISCELLANEOUS

We helping with the reopening of the Baptist Seminary in Quito. We are updating the curriculum and other issues.
We are going to host a special missionary family in June. They are from Kentucky in the USA and their interest is to work alongside us for three weeks. Please pray for this time and ministry.
I'm receiving many notes from different countries around the world from my web site. I'm very excited for this new ministry aspect of my ministry and want to give many thanks to my Lord Jesus for those blessings.

Missionary Prayer Letter- April 2008

OUR FAMILY

This month Joselito had a happy birthday on April 7. Joselito is feeling much better now. His doctor told him that he had a very bad case of pneumonia but it is gone now. He needs to be careful in the future. However, he still has a problem with very bad chronic pain in his back. He needs to recover his health and to reduce his responsibilities because many tasks are producing stress.

OUR MINISTRY

Anita taught a special ladies conference in our home church
Joselito continues sharing every Wednesday this month in the Bible study in Candelaria Baptist Church. In March he was unable to do so because of his illness.
We led a retreat with the families of Candelaria for two days and seventy people attended. It was a very nice experience for the group, because it was their first time to have the blessing of this experience. Joselito shared a conference on biblical parenting, and Anita led a conference about nutrition. We also had devotions, music, sports, pool, gym games, etc. Another exciting aspect of this conference was our daughters worked with the kids doing crafts, music, painting, puppets, etc. The people were very enthusiastic and we we were blessed.
We are helping out the pastor of Candelaria Baptist Chruch in home visitations and counseling. Joselito also officiated a Marriage in Candelaria Baptist Church

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito served as a supervising mentor for a graduation thesis at the Latin American Christian University.
As Rector, Joselito is helping to the Pichincha Baptist Association as they seek to reopen the Baptist Seminary in Quito. He has many meetings for these plans.

Pray for wisdom for reductions and prioritization in our ministry. I need to make decisions about this situation within the next two months.

Missionary Prayer Letter- March 2008

OUR FAMILY

This month Genesis had her tenth birthday. With the exception of Genesis, all our daughters - were very sick with the flu. Anita was very sick as well, but she has recovered quickly. Then Joselito was admitted to the International New Clinic in Quito with Pneumonia. He was very sick for three weeks and was hospitalized for treatment in the Vozandes Hospital. He has been very weak from the antibiotics.
The weather in Quito is very cold, for the first time we had temperature of 5ºC- this is very crazy!

OUR MINISTRY

This month was irregular because of Joselito's illness, but we continue serving to our Lord Jesus.
Anita continued teaching at Candelaria Baptist Church every Wednesday on the subject of the Christian Family.
We celebrated the first session of our School of Ministry. Anita was the teacher because Joselito was still too sick to get out. We had seventeen students from the rural areas. The subject of the course was Family Counseling. It was a positive experience for Anita to share her studies in this area, because she has finished her Masters program in Christian Family Therapy

MISCELLANEOUS

The Ecuadorian Baptist Convention made a five year agreement with the Pinchincha Baptist Association for the administration of the Quito Faculty of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary. As Rector, Joselito hopes that this ministry will be very effective and strategic for our churches in the Andean area.

Praise the Lord for Anita and her Masters degree. The graduation ceremony will be in October.
Pray for Joselito's health. He is now doing much better, but will continue with the medical treatment and will have to rest.

OUR FAMILY

Anita and I celebrated our thirteenth marriage anniversary on February 28. We are very excited to live out our commitment of service to our Lord Jesus. We are also very glad for our family and for our vision for our future. Praise the Lord for all He is doing.
The weather has been very cold in Quito. We received a significant blessing this month from a donor. The donor gave us the finances necessary to totally pay the debt for my truck. We give many thanks to our Lord Jesus first and foremost, and then to this lovely family.

OUR MINISTRY

This month we continue offering pastoral support to our brother Walter Chavez. His physical condition is terminal, but his spiritual condition is wonderful.
We are doing premarital counseling with a Christian couple from Candelaria Baptist Church. The wedding ceremony will be in April. Also we continue teaching a class every Wednesday on the subject of, "How to be a Christian Family"
Joselito shared a special conference for young people on the biblical meaning of the love. It was a wonderful experience to preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus to this group.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito took an intensive course in Vision International University on "Projects Design" in order to meet the final requirements for graduation.
Joselito was accepted into another doctoral program with Vision International University. He will start the program in March. He will work toward a Doctor of Ministry, with focus in Missiology.
We had an important meeting with the board of missions agency in Ecuador. We met to discuss a special agreement with our agency in the USA.

OUR PRAYER REQUESTS & NEEDS

Continue praying for Anita and her graduation project. She is excited but at the same time is stressed out in the process.
Praise the Lord for His provision to pay off the debt on our truck.
Pray for Joselito's upcoming academic program.

OUR FAMILY

Anita and Bethlehem went to see her mother and our Baptist church in Puerto Lopez (Manabi province). She had a nice time with her family and Bethlehem enjoyed the beach…she was VERY excited to play on the beach! My daughters are growing marvelously under the grace of the Lord.

OUR MINISTRY

Our whole family spent the month in Yaruqui (30 miles from Quito). We attended their evangelical church every Sunday, but mainly went to visit a very good friend, Walter Chavez, who is dying of cancer. He is very sick and considered a terminal patient at this point. He is an engineer, was president of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention, and president of our home church in Quito for many years. He is a wonderful Christian. It was a beautiful experience for us to enjoy fellowship, sing praises to the Lord, study the Bible together, tell stories, and share our lives.
Joselito preached one Sunday in Yaruqui and also offered a special marriage conference while we were visiting. The topic of the conference was The Meaning of Love.
Joselito preached in Candelaria Baptist Church the final Sunday of the month. We continue leading the study on the Christian Family each Wednesday.
Joselito is writing two books this year: The Christian Family, A Pastoral Perspective; and the other, The Principal Problems of Ministry in Latin America.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito is now the president of the Palm Ministry in Ecuador . He goes to the mission office every Tuesday except when he is helping with groups from USA, or has a family priority.
Also we are taking care of cases of pastoral counseling in Candelaria and in our home church, especially family counseling.
Joselito continues teaching in the education program for the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary. The graduation ceremony will be in March.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito preached at the wedding for one of the leaders from Candelaria Baptist Church. We also had special Christmas celebration with the couples that are attending our weekly conferences about the Christian Family.
The marriage conference that Joselito shared in our home church this month focused on the meaning of love. We had a special commitment ceremony among the Christian couples.
Joselito sent his new book, Toward the Identity of the Baptists, to the USA for publishing!

MISCELLANEOUS

We held a special program with puppets, film, and games in our neighborhood to celebrate the anniversary of the founding of Quito.
We went on a few days vacation to the countryside for Christmas and the end of 2007.
We had the opportunity to see my first pastor/missionary Mel Neill and his wife Charlene (she was my first Bible Teacher in Sunday school thirty five years ago). Brother Mel preached in Candelaria Baptist Church. They are living back in Texas now.

OUR FAMILY

We are growing in the grace of our Lord Jesus. We are enjoying His great blessings on our lives. We know that suffering and needs are a special component in the Christian life, but always He completes His work.

OUR MINISTRY

We had the final session of our School of Ministry for 2007. Joselito taught the course, Survey of Church History, over five days with eight hours of instruction each day.
Anita also helped by coordinating the logistics for the course.
We finished with a Christmas party with games, songs, gifts, and a delicious special dinner. Two students completed the program this month.

MISCELLANEOUS

We had our annual board meeting of the Board for our mission in Quito. Our president, Art Patray who is based in Miami, was present and Joselito was named president of Palm Ministry in Ecuador.
Joselito went to El Carmen (Manabí province) to visit the Baptist Church and to give a special gift to an old brother who previously worked with Sammy Simpson, a former missionary. While on the trip, he visited the Baptist Church in Alluriquín, and shared a special family conference. Joselito was pastor at this church for eleven years when he was very young, from 1982 until 1993.
Joselito had a strategic planning meeting with the Ecuadorian Baptist Youth Board.

OUR PRAYER REQUESTS & NEEDS

Pray for Anita and her studies. She is very tired and stressed as she works to complete her final project.
Thanksgiving for the provision of our Lord Jesus, but please continue to pray for our monthly budget needs .
We have a significant debt for which we need prayer. We bought a truck for our ministry and need to pay $9000. The interest is very expensive in our country, 17% each month, so this is a signficant need. Please pray for this need and for provision from our Lord Jesus.

Our Family

Anita is fine. Our daughters are growing in the fear of the Lord. Michelle had her fourteenth birthday. She is well and very glad to be living with us. We are parents of a teenager now... Praise the Lord for her!

Our Ministry

Joselito was one of the speakers for the Latin-American Congress of Young Baptists that met in Guayaquil for three days. It was a great experience because leaders attended from many countries of Latin America. Joselito shared about the Theological Principles of Baptists and what means to be a Baptist today (the topic of his next book).
Joselito preached in our home church. The title of his sermon was, The Holy Scripture: Meaning, Content & Purpose.
Joselito received a copy of his book, Commentary on Luke, from the Spanish Baptist Publishing House in the USA. I’m very excited for this blessing. Praise the Lord for this special gift in my life!
Joselito preached on Caring for the Pastor at Candelaria Baptist Church for a Sunday service; and in a special ceremony for the pastor’s grandaughter’s fifteenth birthday. We also continue to lead a special weekly program on the Christian Family at Candelaria Baptist Church.
We have continued with the family conferences in our home church. This month Joselito talked about forgiveness in the context of marriage. We are also counseling a few couples in our church.

Miscellaneous

We were in Pifo (30 miles from Quito) for a special meeting of our mission board. Beginning in November when the current president resigns, Joselito will be the president of Palm Missionary Ministries in Ecuador. The annual meeting will be in November with our president from USA, Art Patray. Joselito is working on the documents for that meeting. We are preparing a special report to PMM about us and our personal ministry.

OUR FAMILY

Our daughters started back to school this month. Also, Galilee and Bethlehem celebrated birthdays. Galilee turned 7 on September 28 and Bethlehem turned 3 on September 30. Anita began her studies in Pastoral Counseling. She is very excited, but also very tired. Our niece Michelle is now studying in the same school with our daughters. She is feeling so good, and we are very excited for this wonderful experience of the Lord's grace.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito shared the first Family Ministry conference in our home church (UBC). The topic was Marriage Communication . Fifty percent of those attending were unbelievers in Christ, and they were very broken by the Word of God. The people asked for another conference to follow this one held in our home church.
We began a special conference program in Candelaria Baptist Church about how to be healthy Christian families. We are teaching the conferences every Wednesday for three hours over the next eight months.
We had a special service in Guayaquil to recognize those who have served in the Latin American Congress of young Baptists. Joselito was the national counselor and preached a special sermon of encouragement. Also during this time we had a few meetings about the ministry of our Baptist Seminary. Joselito will resign from this responsibility within the next year.
The next meeting for the School of Ministry was on the Kingdom of God in Cañar province. It was a Mission's week. Joselito went to visit four indigenous churches and communities: Caguana Pamba, Ingapirca, Ducur y Arriendo. It was a wonderful experience. He taught and preached every day for five days (ten hours per day). Every afternoon our students helped with special teaching for Sunday school teachers, taught husbands and wives, performed with puppets, and taught children and youth. We also had a special service each night. Praise the Lord for this time in our ministry!
Joselito preached in our home church about biblical keys to keep anxiety under control.
We went to visit the New Life Baptist Church and to encourage our brother in Christ who is serving there. We both helped; Joselito worked with the music and Anita taught

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito is helping at our home church with the special Family Ministry conferences and is preaching.
We went to Alluriquin for the election of the new constitution in our country. Pray for that, as it is the most important election during the last twenty years.

OUR FAMILY

The girls were on vacation this month. We enjoyed the family time together. We were able to get medical check-ups for our daughters and Anita. They are fine, but Genesis needs glasses now because she has an astigmatism like me. She also needs some dental work. Anita also had her check-up and is doing very well as is Galilee. Bethlehem was a sick for a while while but is better now. I will visit the doctor next month for my check-up.

OUR MINISTRY

We had another session for our School of Ministry. We shared shared Pastoral Counseling and then attended the National Congress in Theology.
I shared in conferences at the National Theological Congress of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention. I spoke on the Theological Principles of the Baptists and Their Mission. I also helped with the music and board discussions. The meeting was for three days in La Merced, a Baptist Camp 30 miles from Quito.
We went to Alluriquin (90 miles from Quito) to visit our family. We were also able to visit our little baptist church there and The New Life Baptist Church in Toachi. We participated in four baptisms and celebrated the 90th birthday of my father, Joaquin.
I preached the last Sunday of August in our home church (UBC), about the Church and Witness, being the Community of Jesus (Hb. 12:1-3)
I was invited by International Mission Board/SBC missionaries to go to San Lorenzo (in Esmeraldas province, 200 miles from Quito). I helped at ten refugee camps that are there because of the war in Colombia.

MISCELLANEOUS

We attended a week long conference about Ephesians with a pastor from First Baptist Church of NY (Vincent Sawyer) It was a good experience to grow in our knowledge of Ephesians. We also received a visit from Dr. John Nicholls, a teacher of Oklahoma Baptist University, who shared about Baptist History.
Anita will be attending a special conference on ministry to teenagers. This is very important for her studies and work.

July and August is vacation for my daughters.
Anita and my daughters were gone to Puerto Lopez for one week to visit her mother and our little baptist church there.
My father Joaquin is much better now although he needs medical treatment for the rest of his life.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito preached at Candelaria Baptist Church on the first Sunday of the month. We also had a funeral for a little girl (six years old). This provided an opportunity to preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus to many unbelievers.
We also went to visit the Baptist Church in Sangolqui (30 miles from Quito). Anita shared in the adult Sunday class, and Joselito shared the youth class and then preached the morning sermon.

MISCELLANEOUS

We continue to minister in Quito with the special program for advanced students at the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary. Anita and I are both teaching on the Bachelor level of this program.
I had an appointment with the embassy in Quito on July 16 to apply for a visa to travel to the United States. The result of the meeting was: No visa for me. The reason? Well, the man at the embassy told me, "I want to see your monthly payroll. You need to have a permanent salary." I answered, "But I'm a faith missionary, I don't have this situation." The result was that I may be able to get the visa in a year if my work situation is different. As a result, this month was very stressful for me. The process and result was difficult. I am very sad and confused, but know it is the will of God. I hope in the grace of my Lord Jesus because my future is in His hands.

OUR FAMILY

This month classes ended for our daughters. We will go on vacation to the beach (our favorite place), to rest and enjoy our family.
My father Joaquin is very sick. He had a pacemaker implanted seven years ago. This month he was with us in Quito for several medical tests. He is 90 years old, and he has arterial hypertension and cardiac insufficiency and is very critical. Please pray for him.
Joselito is looking for a part time job –part time- because our support is very low, and the financial horizon does not look good for us. We have a new member in our family, my niece Michelle who is an orphan. Her father is not responsible, so we have taken her in. Please pray for this situation.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito preached in our home Church (UBC) about the being a biblical father (The Model of Joseph, father of Jesus). The sermon powerpoint is available (in spanish). under the conference heading below my profile picture
Anita taught a few conferences about Christian sexuality at our home church and Candelaria Baptist Church. She enjoy this ministry, because it is her specialty.
Joselito went to Cuzco-Perú with a special group from our church Louisville KY-USA, Ninth and O Baptist Church. The team was under leadership of my friend and partner Dr. David Sills. It was a nice experience for me to visit this Andean country, and to serve to my Lord in cross-cultural missions in another country and to grow and fellowship with my brothers from USA. Our group was nineteen people. We worked in evangelism, medical clinics and discipleship in Ancahuasi (an indigenous community). There is a little baptist church that is very poor and has many needs. We also visited Macchu Picchu. I preached the gospel of our Lord Jesus to 600 students at the elementary school. It was my first trip to Peru. I hope to continue serving there and in others countries in LA.

MISCELLANEOUS

We began a special program in Quito for advanced students in the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary. Anita and I are teaching on the Bachelor level of this program.
Joselito wrote his new book (160 pages), about the Baptist Theology. He needs money to printing 1000 copies (approximately $2000 total)
Joselito & Anita attended a special conference for leaders and pastors about having a healthy marriage. We are going to teach eight months of special conferences on Christian family for Candelaria Baptist Church, our Home Church (UBC), and Puerto Lopez Baptist Church. The materials are provided by the International Bible Society.

OUR FAMILY

Joselito had his birthday on April 7. Now, he is very old! This was a special month for him as he fulfilled the goal of completing his doctoral degree. Anita went to Puerto Lopez with Belén to rest a few days, to visit her mother and our little Baptist church there.

OUR MINISTRY

We went to visit the Baptist churches in Calacali and San Antonio de Pichincha (20 miles from Quito). Joselito preached in the both places.
We attended Joselito's graduation as he earned his PhD in Theology. He won the following awards: best student of 2007; best thesis; and the first student with PhD in Theology at VIU in Latin America.
Joselito went to Guayaquil for the graduation service of two students with a Bachelor Degree from the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary.
We went to Toachi to visit the Baptist church. Joselito preached in the Sunday service and Anita taught the class for kids.
Joselito went to Puyo (180 miles from Quito) to teach a special Missiology course for the university.
At the end of the month, Joselito officiated a marriage ceremony at our home church for a couple we disciple.

MISCELLANEOUS

Anita is very excited about her Masters program in pastoral counseling. Pray for her and for me, as I need to care our daughters during her studies.

OUR FAMILY

Genesis celebrates her 9th birthday on March 21. We are thinking of putting our daughters in a Christian School (possibly Alliance Academy), but it is very expensive. There is a chance they may get scholarships if Anita can teach and help reduce the cost. Pray for this to work out quickly; the current school is not Christian and we have many problems with their secular activities and worldly parties.

OUR MINISTRY

Anita went to Puerto Lopez to help lead and teach the Vacation School. Eighty children attended and many made decisions to follow Christ.
We received a visit from our brother and partner Russell Leatherman (and an associate) from http://www.nbri.net/. It was a nice experience to increase our fellowship this ministry. We visited Candelaria Baptist Church, HCJB World Radio, the School of Ministry and our home church (University Baptist Church).
Anita went to Santo Domingo, with the ladies of Candelaria Baptist Church on a ladies retreat and shared a special conference for them.
Joselito spoke at a special conference for the young Baptist people in Pichincha Association about the interpretation of the Bible.
Joselito preached in Candelaria and also shared the Bible study. We received many Survey of the Bible books to teach the members in Candelaria over the next three months.
Joselito went to the countryside for three days to visit three Baptist churches in the mountains (Toachi, Dos Rios & Alluriquín) He preached every day, sharing in a few family conferences, and encouraging the brothers and pastors there. While there , they were able to celebrate baptisms and a communion service.
We had our intensive week of studies with the pastoral training program in Quito. Joselito was teaching Church Ministry (Administration & Education). The next session will be in May. Anita is helping with the logistical aspects and secretarial duties.

MISCELLANEOUS

Anita began her Master's program in Pastoral Counseling through Vision International University (VIU). She is very excited about that. Pray for her, please! I will need to help with the care of our daughters.

OUR FAMILY

Anita & I have been married for twelve years. We give many thanks to our Lord and Shepherd Jesus for this wonderful experience. The most important thing is that our daughters are growing up in the fear of the Lord. Our lasting heritage for them is a simple message: To love Jesus. That's all we want!

OUR MINISTRY

Seven years ago our home church (UBC) split. However, the congregations reconciled on the first Sunday of this past February. Praise the Lord! This is a big blessing and miracle. We are very excited and we have many dreams!
Anita shared a special conference & crafts for the ladies at Candelaria Baptist Church, and Joselito is preaching there one time per month. Also, we are both helping with a few family counseling cases at Candelaria.
We went to the countryside to visit three small Baptist churches (Toachi, Alluriquín y Dos Ríos). In March we will return there for three days to teach, baptize, preach, and to celebrate communion.
Joselito and others musicians played the guitar in a special concert of hymns in our home church. It was a wonderful experience for us as church!
Anita went to Puerto Lopez to help with the Vacation Bible School (leading and teaching). She prepared all the materials. Also, we gave them some Bible study materials (tracts, books for the pastor, booklets, etc.).

MISCELANEOUS

This month Joselito finished his doctoral program in Theology (ThD) and will graduate on April 13. He's very excited, tired, and thankful. Praise to the Lord!
Joselito is writing his new book for the SBPH (http://www.casabautista.org/). The theme is the contemporary problems in the ministry (an apologetic and biblical perspective).

OUR FAMILY

We are planning to work mostly in the countryside this year. We will help four churches. Our daughters are very involved inthis task.
Anita is working very hard with ladies and children
Joselito is teaching, preaching, and writing.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito preached at the last Sunday service (Dec. 31/07) of the Baptist Church in Puerto Lopez, and Anita helped in their Sunday School class. We shared Bible materials with them.
Joselito preached the first sermon of 2007 at Candelaria Baptist Church.
We had the first intensive meeting of our School of Ministry (www.bibletraining.org) at our home church (Jan 22-26). Joselito taught pastoral ethics and Anita taught Christian Education.
Joselito went to Guayaquil, for a meeting with the seminary national council and a meeting with national Baptist young people.
We are the hosting the Latin-American Baptist youth congress in October 2007.
We are using the materials of The Bible League with our churches in the countryside (Candelaria for example). These materials are verybiblical, and easy to use.

MISCELLANEOUS

The president of the WorldBaptist Alliance ( www.wbanet.org), Dr. David Coffey visited Ecuador and Joselito was his driver in Quito. We had a few business meetings, church service, and nice fellowship. Before his visit to Quito, he went to Puerto Lopez, and visited our little Baptist Church there. He was very enthusiastic about this work!
Joselito was invited by the Spanish Baptist Publishing House (www.casabautista.org ) to write the commentary on Mark's Gospel and other books. He's very excited about this, and he's going do it!

OUR MINISTRY

We visited Candelaria Baptist Church, and Joselito preached about biblical obedience. After three days, Joselito also preached, two times, at the burial of a good sister from Candelaria Baptist Church. She was the sister in law of the pastor there. Near 1300 people attended and listened to the preaching of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus.
We went to Toachi, for the national elections, and Joselito & Anita shared with the Sunday school adults and kids, in the New Life Baptist Church.
We had a Special ordination ceremony for our pastor at UBC. Joselito preached and coordinated this program.
Joselito was invited to preach in the special Christmas ceremony in our High School in Pifo. It was an opportune time to share the Gospel of Jesus among our students, teachers and parents.
We had a special Christmas party in the School of our daughter, and then in our Church. It was a nice time for Christmas songs, dramas, candies, etc.
We resigned as associate pastor in University Baptist Church, because our Schedule is very busy.

MISCELLANEOUS

Joselito went to Manta (Manabi province), sent by Latin-American Christian University, to teach an intensive course about Bibliology. Also in Quito he shared this course.
Joselito went to Guayaquil for Vision International University, to teach an intensive course about Missiology. It was my first time with them.
Joselito is working out a special arrangment for Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary with another University. The new area director is asking Joselito to continue for one year more, and I'm praying about this..!
We shared Christmas candies for poor children of Loja (Cariamanga), Puerto Lopez (Manabi), and in our neighborhood (Anita 's Bible Club)

Warmest greetings in the grace of the Lord. We present here a brief report of our ministries. Everything has been detailed in our monthly reports sent to the Board and our donors.

Our Family

Génesis is in the fifth grade and will turn nine in March 2007. She wants to be baptized next year. She participates in our groups.
Galilea is in second grade. She turned six on September 28. She helps her Mom in our children’s club ministry and in the church.
Belén turned two on September 30; she is walking and learning her first words. She knows some Christian songs and livens up our family worship time.

Anita

Her priority is her ministry to our girls at home and local administration.
She is teaching courses in Christian Education and Crafts in the Baptist Seminary, and also in our pastoral training programs.
She is involved in our IBU church teaching special conferences to the ladies, serving as their secretary, and also teaching in the Sunday School, she also participates in marital counseling.
She has a weekly ministry to women and children in our neighborhood.
She helps some sisters in various churches in biblical counseling.

Joselito

He continues serving as President and professor of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary (STBE). Forty students in Guayaquil graduated with bachelor’s degrees in Theology and Christian Education in December 2005. In Quito, we are offering a Pastoral Training program with seminary level accreditation for high school graduates that desire to continue their formal education.
He was invited to teach in the Vision International University, beginning in November 2006, in countries outside of Ecuador. In addition to teaching in the Latin-American Christian University (UCL), he continues teaching in the Logos Christian University (Contextual Hermeneutics, Bibliography, and Theology) and also serves as a tutor for theses and projects in the Theology department at the UCL.
He continues as national counselor for the Evangelical Baptist Youth of Ecuador (JEBE). He was reelected for two more years and has been the plenary speaker for their national congresses for the last tour years. The next congress will be for the entire Latin-American level and will be held in Ecuador.
He is completing a PhD in Theology and will graduate, Lord willing, in April 2007.
He finished writing his Exegetical and Pastoral Commentary on Luke (vol. 16 Hispanic World Biblical Commentary) for our Baptist Publication House of El Paso, Texas. It will be in bookstores in March 2007.
He is serving as associate pastor at the University Baptist Church (IBU), assists with the youth and children’s Sunday Schools, and ministers through music.
We continue with the ministry of CCBP (www.bibletraining.com) for pastors and leaders around Quito and in the countryside. These pastors do not have any possibility of obtaining other kinds of formal education. Our church sponsors six intensive courses, each lasting one week, every year. The students come from various provinces: Cañar, Guayas, Pichincha and Manabí.

Miscellaneous

This year we have:

Received five groups from our supporting churches in the USA. They came to work with churches and other ministries (teaching, construction, evangelism, new church planting, medical clinics, Backyard Bible Clubs, logistics support, sister church programs);
Cooperated as members of the Board of Palm Missionary Ministries in Ecuador;
Participated in the opening of a new work in Puerto Lopez, Manabí. They now have twenty adult members, their own pastor, and meet in a rented building.
Offered pastoral training to various leaders in indigenous Quichua churches, both in Calderón and Cañar, through an itinerant ministry;
Served as conference speakers in various congresses and annual meetings;
Supported various rural churches that do not have a pastor or who are in the process of ministerial development;
And purchased a new 4x4 vehicle for our missionary ministry in the countryside.

Prayer Concerns

Thanksgiving for the generous protection and provision of the Lord.
For my orphaned nephew and niece: Michelle 13 years old and Andrés 11 years old. They are part of our family now.
For our spiritual and physical health.
Pray for a new associate pastor for our church (IBU) and for a new President of the seminary (STBE). Joselito will resign these two responsibilities at the beginning of the new year.
For the future of our ministry. Apparently, the Lord is showing us that soon we will have to leave our country. We are very disillusioned by many things that are occurring with the church and the Baptist denomination, as well as in the country itself. We are open to go and minister wherever the Lord wants to send us!

Urgent Needs

To increase our economic support. We have lost some supporters and our support has fallen some 50%. Now we have only 15% of what our mission agency PMM requires. We do not receive any economic support from Ecuador, not from the church nor from the Baptist convention. The small amount I receive as an honorarium from the UCL is very little.
To obtain visas to the USA for our whole family.
We are looking for a new place to live in Quito, completely private, not in an apartment-type complex where we are now. We are suffering persecution here because we are Evangelical missionaries. For example, they constantly scratch and hit our old car as well as our new car (it has been scratched and hit and is only a month old), they paint obscenities near our house, they stole Joselito’s bicycle two days ago, they write graffiti on the walls, and they show a hostile and threatening attitude because of what we are, what we have, and what we do.

Principle Goals for 2007

To travel to the USA to share about our family and ministry.
To complete Joselito’s doctorate.
For Anita to begin a Masters degree in Family Counseling.
Joselito will begin a ministry of Theological Education outside of our country by means of the University and also through the ministry of our supporting churches from the USA.
Joselito will begin writing his commentary on the book of Acts.
To develop our English to a higher level [the eternal language of heaven, ha ha!]
Joselito will have a complete medical check-up.
To support the rural indigenous ministry in other parts of the country. We have received invitations to support the work in the provinces de Cañar, Tungurahua, and Cayambe.

May the love of God, the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of us. Amen. A hug and rich blessings from the Lord.

OUR FAMILY

We are fine, we have been a little sick (influenza) but without problems. This month really was very busy. Our daughters are growing very well. Anita is busy with her special programs for the end of the year. Joselito participated in many opportunities of ministry.

OUR MINISTRY

We celebrated the Annual Congress #34 of the Baptist Young People. Joselito was the principal speaker and helped with the music (playing the guitar & piano). Joselito was reelected as National Counselor of this organization, of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention (for two more years ).
We had the last meeting of this year for the pastoral training program. 21 students attended from different places of the country side. Also, we celebrated the Christmas season with a special ceremony, and Joselito preached on the biblical perspective of this holiday.
Joselito continues preaching at UBC, this month his message was the message to the Church in Laodicea (Rev. 3:14-22).
We have a new chaplain for our High School in Pifo (It's a ministry of the University Baptist Church). Joselito is helping to develop a special academic and pastoral project for the school. Joselito visited this school and taught a special conference for all the teacher about the Biblical Model of Development (based in the life the John the Baptist, and our Lord Jesus).

MISCELLANEOUS

We celebrated the annual meeting from Palm Missionary Ministries Inc., in October. Joselito was reelected as a Vice president and Legal Representative of PMM in Ecuador (for two more years).
We went to Toachi for the national elections in Ecuador, and Joselito and Anita helped with preaching and Sunday school for kids in the New Life Baptist Church. This was the first trip with our new pickup.
This month, Joselito will officiate a wedding for a couple we have discipled.

For our spiritual and physical health. We are looking for special rest time for us.
Pray for the PhD program of Joselito. He needs much wisdom and time for this task.

Galilee & Bethlehem had their birthdays on September 28th and 30th . They are now six and two years old, respectively
Joselito sent his commentary on Luke to the Spanish Baptist Publishing House, in the Paso, TX-USA. Thanks again for your prayers for this big and special project for me. I'm very tired, but so glad for the opportunity!

OUR MINISTRY

Anita is doing very well with her Bible Club for Kids every Saturday in our neighborhood.
Joselito continues preaching at UBC, this month he preached on the message to the Church in Philadelphia (Rev. 3:7-13). He is also helping with pastoral counseling and has helped with a few very difficult cases and emergencies (baby burial, family conflicts, and divorce among Christians).
Our University Baptist Church bought a fifteen passenger van for mission trips. Praise the Lord.

MISCELLANEOUS

The Vision International University accepted Joselito's commentary on Luke as his graduate project for his PhD. Praise the Lord. He will probably graduate in April 2007 .
Good news: We have our new ministry car... Praise the Lord. It's a Toyota Hilux 4x4. You can see this car in www.toyota.com.ec Please- don't forget to pray for this, because we have a debt with them. We are very excited for this wonderful blessing for our ministry.

OUR PRAYER REQUESTS

OUR FAMILY

Anita went with our daughters to Santo Domingo, for the eleventh birthday of my nephew Andrew; he is the second child of my sister Lourdes (+).
This month my father Joaquin, will celebrate his 89th birthday. He is a firm believer in Christ, and his health is better than mine! Praise the Lord for his life and testimony.

OUR MINISTRY

Joselito continues preaching at UBC, this month his message was the message to the Church in Sardis (Rev. 3:1-6). He is also helping with a few cases of pastoral counseling.
We had the next intensive week of pastoral training program at UBC; forty students attended from nine different places of the countryside. Joselito taught Old Testament Survey, and Anita taught Christian Education for Kids, Teenagers and Adults (both, eight hours every day, for five days). The next session will be in October.
We went as a family with the youth from Candelaria Baptist Church to the Beach in Esmeraldas for a special retreat for them (two days). Joselito was invited to be a speaker. The topic was sexual purity. We had forty people there. It was very nice experience for my daughters and my wife, because usually I go alone. This time they came with me.

MISCELLANEOUS

We received special big economic blessing from one of our donors. We want to give many thanks to our Lord for this special blessing for us. Praise the Lord.

OUR PRAYER REQUEST

We are waiting for our new ministry car (4x4). It's coming maybe in December or January 2007. We are going to buy with credit because we only have 50%.

Hello everybody. Greetings from Quito. Here is our July letter. I'm sorry it's very late; I'm very busy with my commentary on Luke. Thanks again for your love and care for us. Blessings..!

FAMILY

My daughters are on summer vacation. It's very nice and fun for them but not always for us, because we have so much noise in our house!!
Genesis and Galilee went to their first Baptist camp for kids between 6 to 12 years old. The place was La Merced, the same place that Anita & I studied in the Baptist Seminary many years ago. It was a great experience for them. Anita and I were alone in our house, with Bethlehem, for three days.

OUR MINISTRY

Anita helped this month with biblical counseling a few sisters from Candelaria Baptist Church.
Anita also is helping with the preparation of Campground for Kids for the Baptist Association in Quito.
Joselito preached at the graduation ceremony of the High School of the University Baptist Church. 26 students graduated. The topic of the sermon was 2 Tim. 4:5. Also, Joselito continued preaching at UBC this month on the message to the Church in Pergamum and Tiatira (Rev. 2:12-17).
Joselito was invited to preach in the Christian Alliance Church of Sangolqui, for a special service of reconciliation. I went with my family, and after the service, I had a special meeting for reconciliation, for five hours. But, it was a wonderful experience to see the grace and mercy of my Lord Jesus.
Joselito also preached the funeral of Pastor Pedro Vasquez mother-in-law from Candelaria Baptist Church.
Anita was invited to participate in a Retreat of Baptist Independent Women. (From The World Baptist Fellowship). Four women of our new Baptist Mission in Puerto Lopez attended with her for three days. Candelaria Baptist Church and New Life Baptist Church belong this denomination. They are good brothers and believers in Christ, and we at times work with them.

MISCELLANEOUS

We had a national emergency when the Tungurahua Volcano erupted, which affected the group from USA of our friend Steve Thompson who is a Baptist missionary with Global Outreach and has been in Ecuador for twenty years. Due to the eruption we took the group to Candelaria Baptist Church, and they had a good ministry there for three days: Bible Club for kids, painting the chapel, reparation of building, personal evangelism, and special service for fellowship.

OUR PRAYERS REQUEST

Thanks giving for a big economic blessing from one of our donors. Right now, we have enough to cover our urgent needs, and also we have 50% of the cost to buy our new ministry car (a 4x4) Praise the Lord.

Our Family
This month was very busy for us, but very blessed. My daughters are finishing the school year. They are very happy because they have two months of vacation. (July, August). Bethlehem is really growing. She was with us on the beach in Puerto Lopez (Manabi province). We saw the whales one morning, it was a fantastic experience. They are a picture of the glory of our God.

Our Ministry

Puerto Lopez Baptist Church- Anita & I were to Puerto Lopez with a work team from KY-USA. Our friend and partner David Sills came with us. We had many ministry opportunities to serve the Lord Jesus at Puerto Lopez, including : Medical clinics; Painting, cleaning the Chapel; Bible club for kids; Ladies conferences; Personal testimonies; Conferences in various educative institutions; Radio family programs; Evangelistic services every night; and, Fellowship. Anita worked with ladies and kids; and Joselito helped with preaching, teaching many conferences, congregational music, personal counseling, and speaking every morning on the Radio. Now, we have a beautiful Biblical Baptist Church there; maybe twenty members, youth and adults. Praise the Lord.
Candelaria Baptist Church- Joselito was invited to be a Speaker for the Family Campaign (two weekends). It was a wonderful experience to preach the Word of God. Three hundred persons attended the last service (including kids). Also, we had the Holy Communion celebration.
University Baptist Church- Joselito preached about the message to the Church in Smyrna (Rev. 2:8-11) the last Sunday. Also we had baptisms (five new believers in Christ) and Holy Communion.
Latin American Christian University- This month, Joselito is teaching a special intensive course about Bibliography.

Palm Missionary Ministries- Ecuador
Please continue praying for my boss, Art Patray and his wife. They need much emotionally and spiritual support now. Is not easy, to see a family member suffer. Please, don't forget this request.

Miscellaneous

OUR FAMILY

We want to open our hearts in this letter. We need to make many decisions about our ministry here in Ecuador. We are very busy with good things but we want to focus in the most important tasks for us: preaching, teaching, writing, and counseling

Also we need to expand our economic support. Right now we only have 30% of our budget with Palm Missionary Ministries. Unfortunately, we don't receive any support from our ministries here in our country (Church, Convention, Seminary, and University)

We have various needs that aren't satisfied, for example: We don't have life insurance, retreat, education for us and our daughters, car collision insurance, and others. Please pray for these needs.

As family, we visited Chachimbiro (Imbabura Province) and with my father (Joaquin), my sister and her son (Ligia & Italo), and Michelle & Andrew (Lourdes' kids). This place has many hot prings from the volcanos. It was our first time there, and it was a cool experience.

We have a new family member; a nice pet. He was a special gift from my sister Ligia to my daughters. His name is Cotton, he is two months old, male, and a little lamb.

OUR MINISTRY

Please pray for the followings possible decisions (for the future):

University Baptist Church:

I'm thinking to resign as associate pastor in UBC in December 2006, because the church is much better now.
They have a pastor full time, and other good leaders. And we need to spend more time visiting and supporting other churches in the countryside (without pastors), and other countries in Latin America too (supporting through theological education).

Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary:

Also, I'm thinking of resigning as Rector (in one year more), because the Baptist Association in Quito doesn't want to work with the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention. This situation is very sad, but true. I don't want to be in the middle of this circumstance.
We have in Quito, a special pastoral training program and the courses are credited on the seminary level. We have twenty five students on this program. For me, the most important thing in our missionary job is the ministry and personal contact, not special titles.

Joselito has been preaching for the past several months on the seven messages to the Churches in Revelation (one Sunday per month). Also, he is sharing a study bible on Revelation every Wednesday at UBC.

PALM MISSIONARY MINISTRIES-Ecuador

Our goal for this year is to go to the USA to visit our friends, donors, and churches, to share our ministry and to look for more support. We are waiting for our visas, special invitations for the trip, and praying about the finances.

OUR FAMILY

Anita worked very hard this month and our daughters were a big help to us in our ministry.
Genesis celebrated her birthday party a little late because we were very busy the last month. It was a nice experience to share this event as a family.
Joselito celebrated his birthday on April 7. He received a special gift (Christian books) from our Church in Louisville Kentucky (Sunday School Class).

CHURCHES & UNIVERSITY BAPTIST CHURCH (Ecuador Home Church)

We went to work in our High School in Pifo with a work team from our Baptist Church in Louisville. It was a nice opportunity to share the Gospel with our teachers, students and community there. Joselito preached and shared a special conference for the teachers about "Bible Pedagogy." Anita worked with Bible Club for children.
We have had a problem with our chaplain there because his work and attitude have not reflected the spirit of the Lord. We need to hire a new person who is a real servant for this important job and ministry. Please pray for this.
Joselito preached at UBC, about "The Seven Words, and One More." We showed a couple of wonderful dramas on Good Friday --"The Footprint of Calvary" and "My Resurrection with Christ" (1 Peter 1:3-9). Also, Joselito preached an evangelistic campaign at Candelaria Baptist Church about the "The Profile of Christian Parents." In total he preached seven sermons in three days and various places (including Pifo). It was very hard, but very exciting... praise the Lord!
Joselito went to Puerto Lopez (11 hours of bus trips) to visit the Christian group there and to prepare all the logistics for the next group from the USA in June. Also, he preached in their service. It was a beautiful experience to share with them and to encourage them in the big goal--to open a new Baptist church there.
We had the intensive week in UBC (eight hours each day) of Bible Training for Pastors. Joselito taught "Survey of Bible Doctrine" and Anita taught "Methods and Principles of Christian Teaching." Fifteen students attended from various places: Guayaquil, Cañar, Pedro Vicente Maldonado, Puerto Lopez, Mindo, and Quito.
Last Sunday, Joselito preached in UBC on Revelation 4: "The glorious future of believers in Christ." As a church, we need to grow in our commitment to the Great Commission.

PALM MISSIONARY MINISTRIES-Ecuador

We are changing medical insurance providers one more time. This private service is very expensive but the social security medicine from our government is very bad. It's very sad, but true.

MISCELLANEOUS

This month was so busy. But we are very glad for many opportunities to serve our Lord Jesus Christ. In May, I'm going to put emphasis in my book on Luke. Please pray for this. I will probably have to leave the house for the writing because is not possible to write quietly there.

PRAYER REQUESTS

For our home church in Ecuador and their plans for Christian missions.
For the next missionary group from the USA in June (evangelization, pastoral training, discipleship). We will go to Puerto Lopez (on the beach of Manabi Province). There is a small group of Baptist believers there, and we have decided as missionaries, to support the establishing of a new Baptist Church at this beautiful place.
For our economic support, which is still very low. And, we have other urgent needs now also.

OUR FAMILY

Anita went to Manabi to visit her family for three days in Puerto Lopez. She was able to encourage her mother and brother since her mother is a little sick and needs emotional support now. We also want to support a new church in Puerto Lopez. Right now, there are ten members and their leader.
Genesis celebrated her eighth birthday on March 21st. We are very proud of her and her spiritual growth. She wants to express her faith through baptism, probably this year. Pray for this, because it is very important for us and for the Kingdom of God here on the earth.
Joselito is thinking (and praying) about starting a doctoral program. He has three opportunities: Vision International University (Th.D.); Logos Christian University (D.Min.) and Oviedo University from Spain (Ph.D. in superior education). Each of these programs are in Ecuador. After much prayer, he has decided that the better option (academic emphasis and budget) is Vision’s program. Pray for him, for his choice, and for the economic support for this purpose.
Our daughters are doing well. Galilee is fine, growing in the grace of the Lord. She enjoys painting all the time. Bethlehem is learning new words, and singing and jumping on her little rocking horse. Thanks to Ralph and Kathy Kurtenbach for this special gift for her.

CHURCHES & UNIVERSITY BAPTIST CHURCH (Home Church)

My wife Anita and I went to Pifo (30 miles from Quito) to visit our church's High School, to plan the activities for the next missionary work team, and to search for guest houses for them there.
Joselito preached at UBC about “The Servant’s Profile” (Ecclesiastes. 5:1-7). We had a special ceremony for the new leaders in our home church.
We are preparing a special program for Holy Week. Joselito wrote the script for this presentation (The Seven Words, and One More). It will be a nice opportunity to share the Message of the Cross and the Power of the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus.

ECUADORIAN BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY & EBC

I’m very excited for Guayaquil, but I’m very sad for Quito. Quito has had many problems with their goal to reopen the Seminary. However, our Dean of the Guayaquil Center told me they will start the next semester in April with 80 students. Praise the Lord for this special blessing. Pray for our Field Board there.

PALM MISSIONARY MINISTRIES-Ecuador

Remember in your prayers my boss Art Patray (Major President of PMM Inc) and his wife Barbara. She has cancer and is awaiting her encounter with our Sweet Lord and Saviour.
Also, don’t forget to pray for Bill Quesemberry, our Administrator. He is a wonderful partner for us, and he does an excellent job.
Finally, please pray for our Ecuador Board, we need much wisdom for making many decisions.

MISCELLANEOUS

We finished the semester in the Christian University. The next course that Joselito will be teaching is New Testament III (Exegesis on Revelation). Also Joselito is reading other graduation projects.

Anita and I celebrated our 11th Wedding Anniversary. We give thanks to our Lord Jesus for this sweet gift. We want to be strong and continue being faithful with our ministry commitment.

Bethlehem was a little sick again. We don't know what happens with her, but every month she has a health problem. Her doctor told us that it was possibly an attack of rotavirus.

Churches & University Baptist Church (our home church)

Starting this month, Anita is teaching the Teenager's Class in our Sunday School. She presented a special show with mime about Valentine's Day. It was cool to see our kids as actors.

Joselito preached in UBC about Christian commitment to the Holy Scriptures (Ezra 7:10). We need to recover as a church the missionary vision and so reach Quito and Ecuador for Christ.

We had an intensive week of our pastoral training program at UBC for pastors that are working in the countryside. Joselito teaches New Testament. The next encounter will be in April.

Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary & Ecuadorian Baptist Convention

As Theological Director of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention, we are waiting for the local Baptist Association to outline the new project in Quito. They are working to develop a vision for our seminary here.

In Guayaquil, they will begin the new semester in April. We are expecting 80 students.

Palm Missionary Ministries-Ecuador

We had to change our medical insurance provider because they unilitaterally decided to end our contract. I do not understand clearly the reasons, but we have provisional coverage now until August 2006. Pray for permanent insurance coverage arrangements.

Miscellaneous

My nephew, Solomon Patrick (23 years old), had a car accident. He was hospitalized for emergency surgery in Vozandes Hospital. He was in surgery for 5 hours because his face was 50% destroyed. He stayed in the hospital for ten days. He is recovering now and w are hoping that his vision (right eye) will be okay in the future. He is a believer in Christ, but needs to move closer to the Lord Jesus and His Holy Word.

OUR FAMILY

Our daughters were a little sick because of the weather changes, but they are fine now. Joselito also was a little sick with pain in his throat for a few days. His voice was very strange and funny.

Pray for Anita, she is thinking about getting accreditation of her Christian Education Bachelor with the University and then to begin a Master program. This is something she really wants to do.

Also, please pray for Genesis. She is very intelligent really, but very absent-minded. She has many problems with her English classes. With the others subjects she is doing fine.

CHURCHES & UNIVERSITY BAPTIST CHURCH (Home Church)

We went to visit the New Life Baptist Church in Toachi (first Sunday of this year). It was a nice experience to praise the Lord together. Anita was helping in the Preschool Class in the Sunday School and Joselito was helping with pastoral counseling. This church needs to finish their building and for this they are in the process of collecting many offerings. We are praying that a building group could come from USA this year to finish their construction.

This month we celebrated the 43rd Anniversary of our home church UBC. We had a special service for this purpose. Luis Anda was our guest preacher (Luis was a member of the group with us from Kentucky), special music and the presence of the teachers of our high school in Pifo (30 miles from Quito). Afterwards, we had a special and delicious lunch for all. Praise the Lord...!

Joselito will continue this year as associate pastor at our home church, University Baptist Church, and also help the worship minister at UBC by playing the guitar and piano. He also serves as associate teacher of the young adults' class in Sunday School. Joselito is the Director of the Ministry Training School of UBC.

Joselito recently preached at UBC, about of the corruption in Ecuador (Ezekiel 16:49 cf., Genesis 19).

ECUADORIAN BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY & EBC

You know that the Seminary administration is now under the control of the Pichincha Baptist Association. They decided not to reopen the Seminary in Quito until September 2006. The vice-president of this Association told me that reason is: "We don't have a strategic project for this. We named a special commission for this purpose. The goal is to reopen the seminary in September 2006". In my opinion, they just don't have vision in the leadership of the local association. Joselito is the Rector of the seminary, and therefore is the national authority, but he manages academic issues only. The seminary center in Guayaquil continues to function well.

PALM MISSIONARY MINISTRIES-Ecuador

Ecuador's Board of Palm Missionary Ministries had a special meeting for fellowship this month. We also reviewed many administrative and pastoral situations. Please remember to pray for our missionaries around the world.

MISCELLANEOUS

Our first missionary group (an academic group really) of this year was from Kentucky-USA (January 2-11). They were students of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville (masters degree program in various specialties). Their teacher and leader, our major partner David Sills PhD, (Director of the Missiology Doctoral Program, SBTS) came with them. It was a nice experience for all to get to know our country, history, the culture, missions, tribes (Quichua, Tsachilas, Otavalos, and others), and share in various churches. The goal was to research anthropological issues and missiology development in Ecuador. I want to give special thanks to my other partner Ralph Kurtenbach (HCJB Communications Latin America Region) for guiding the special tour of HCJB World Radio and Vozandes Hospital. We visited many wonderful places, museums, historic monuments, Catholic cathedrals, touristy places, volcanoes and many others. We had the special and marvelous experience to attend the Jacchigua Folklore Ballet; this was my first time. It was very interesting and exciting to me to get to know my country much better. I enjoyed this group and discovered, one more time, that my country is the best of the world! Orellana Family, Missionaries to Ecuador and Latin America

Greetings from Quito-Ecuador, in the middle of the World!

We are Ecuadorians and grew up in Christian homes all our lives. God called us to the ministry at an early age and we have served Him through the years. Joselito began to pastor churches at the age of 17. Also, we have served as professors in the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary since 1991 until today. Joselito has been the leader of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention in the area of Theological Education for the last ten consecutive years. He has also served as Chaplain at the Voice of the Andes Christian Hospital of HCJB World Radio (WRMF) for 12 years, until May 2003.

Beginning 2003 we stepped out in faith to become missionaries with Palm Missionary Ministries Inc. We serve full time in a pastoral training ministry at both formal and informal training settings in our country. Joselito is currently the Rector of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary, an itinerant preacher, associate pastor at University Baptist Church, and member of the Board of Directors of Palm Missionary Ministries in Ecuador.

Our basic areas of ministry are: Theological Education, Pastoral Training, Pastoral Ministries, Leadership Development, Preaching, Pastoral Counseling, Literature, and Christian Education for Children.

Anita and I have been married for ten years (February 24/95) and we have three daughters: Genesis Alondra (March 21/98), Orquidea Galilea (September 28/00), and Ana Belen (September 30/04).

Our basic vision in the grace and blessing of the Lord is:
* To see every Baptist Church in Ecuador with a prepared leader guiding them.
* To see the Seminary become a Baptist University to train more young people.
* To write books, sermons, articles, and conferences.
* To travel through Ecuador and Latin American offering conferences for pastors and leaders.
* To see our daughters growing in the grace of the Lord Jesus and serving in the Kingdom of God.

The International Mission Board of the SBC, in survey taken in our country determined that less than 20% of the leaders and pastors have theological preparation. 80% of the pastors and leaders have not had the opportunity to adequately prepare themselves for ministry. We believe that we are responsible to prepare as many leaders as we are planting churches in Ecuador.

We come to you through this letter in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We humbly pray that you would consider cooperation in this ministry. Would you prayerfully consider financially supporting our ministry and family? Right now we have only raised 25% of our required economic support.

Moses, A Model of God's Servant

Numbers 12

Introduction

Moses is the most important leader of the people of God in the Old Testament. He is an example for us of servant and leader of God. Our Lord needs, principally, servants in his Kingdom. Moses doesn't search to be a leader, God was calling him. In this incident with his brothers, it is evidence three characteristics very important and necessaries for us today, if really we want to show the glory of God into the world.

I. Humble, v. 3
A. "Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth"
B. It is the quality number one in the servant's life. It is the base of the ministry and the Christian life.
C. The Lord Jesus said: "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" Mt 11:29
D. We need to learn to be humble of heart, because it is not our human nature.
E. The humble person's fruit is to be tolerant with all people. This was necessary in the pilgrimage at the desert of the people of God.

II. Faithful, v. 7
A. "But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house" Cf., He 3:2; "He (Jesus) was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house." This declaration is from God, is not human interpretation!!! That's very important.
B. "Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future" He. 3:5.
C. He is the hero of the Christian faith in the New Testament, He 11:23-28. Revelation talks about of Moses as "the servant of God" 15:3b.
D. As result, the faithful is the life way of a humble heart.
E. The admonition of God for his Church forever is: "Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you the crown of life" Rev. 2:10c.

III. Mercy, v. 13
A. "So Moses cried out to the Lord, O God, please heal her!"
B. Moses never judged to his sister Mary and his brother Aaron. He had compassion. Also, we have that to show the compassion of Jesus too.
C. God is the great judge. "Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!" Jam. 2:12-13. In this case the mercy is the primary attitude.
D. Mercy is evidence and consequence of a humble and faithful heart.
E. The true servant of God knows that the only one Lord is Jesus Christ.

Conclusion & Application

God needs servants. But is clear what is his expectative for this calling. Moses is a leader's profile in the mind of God. In this time many people want to be a leader very important, but the God's paradigm is to inverse (Cf., Luke 9:45-48 & 9:51-56). We need to make a decision now: Lord Jesus, I want to be a servant that you want in this world.

The Salvation of God

The Salvation of God
Titus 2:11-14

Introduction

The salvation of God in Christ is the most special gift for us. It is the most important topic for God in His Word (the Bible). The salvation by personal faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as Lord and Savior is the heart of the message of God. But, do you know what salvation means to the believer in Christ? Paul tells us the salvation has three important characteristics. "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us" (v. 11) What is the Salvation?

I. Salvation is to Renounce your sins (v. 12a)
A. No to ungodliness. No to impiety.
B. No to worldly passions. No to carnality and worldliness.
C. No to my self will. Jesus is the King and Lord (Rev. 19:16)
D. No to my worldly old life. We have a new model of living.
E. "Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world" Rom. 12:2a
F. The emphasis of this dimension is in the Past tense

II. Salvation is Living Self controlled (v. 12b)
A. Sober. Life controlled by the Holy Spirit (Ga. 5:22)
B. Justice. Life balanced by the Holy Scripture (2 Tim. 3:16)
C. Piety. Lives submitted to God in faith and obedience. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of the knowledge, wisdom and discipline (Pr. 1:7) Be sure to fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all our heart (1 Sam. 12:24)
D. We have a new life in Jesus Christ. We are a new creation in Him (2 Co. 5:17); our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Co. 6:19).
E. We need to live the Kingdom of God with a sense of urgency, here and now.
F. The emphasis of this dimension is in the Present tense

III. Salvation is Hope (v. 13)
A. The Blessed hope. "Blessed is the one who reads the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near" (Rev. 1:3) B. The Glorious hope. Jesus is coming again as King of Kings (Rev. 19:11ss)
C. "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us" (Rom. 8:18)
D. The Certain hope. Jesus says: "Yes, I am coming soon" (Rev. 22:20)
E. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Rom 15:13)
F. The emphasis of this dimension is in the Future tense

Conclusion & Application

As believers, we need to more fully appreciate the salvation of God. Jesus is coming again. " who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good" (v. 14)
The basic trilogy for us today is: Renouncing sin, living in self control and embracing hope. Forgiving the past, and living the grace of the Lord now, and waiting the second coming our Lord Jesus Christ, every day. Praise the Lord. We need to celebrate and enjoy the glorious salvation of God. Amen!

The Mission of the Church

The Mission of the Church

Acts 1:8

Introduction

God's mission was the most important topic for our Lord Jesus. The church lives between eschatological tension: now and not yet. The mission is the heart and passion of the Christ's Church. What is the mission of the church today and forever? Acts 1:8 is the key verse in the book of Acts. It is the historic schedule in the development of the church. I find three important questions in this strategic passage of the New Testament:

1. The Request of the Mission (v. 8a)
a. The presence and power (Gr, dunamis) of the Holy Spirit.
b. The mission is the historic project of God. Is not the man. It is not man's doing.
c. What is the nature of the Church? = Sinner's congregation. Martin Luther said: "The face of the church, is the face of the sinners"
d. The agent of the mission of God is the Holy Spirit.
e. The resource of the mission is Christ's Church.
f. The big problem today is the teaching: Holy Spirit is resource of the Church for the mission. This isn't right. The right is vice versa.

2. The Contents of the Mission (v. 8b)
a. To be a witness (Gr, martur). It is imperative, not an option.
b. The believer needs to be prepared to die for Jesus Christ, if necessary.
c. What does it mean to witness for Jesus Christ? To show the Gospel in my flesh and my bone. It is not only words.
d. To be a witness, means to live fallowing Jesus Christ every day, until the end of my life.
e. CrÌstico event: His Person, his job, his Gospel, his Sacrifice at the Cross of Calvary for us, his resurrection and second coming.
f. In other words: His Life in my life, here and now.

3. The Reach of the Mission (v. 8c)
a. The ends of the earth (Gr, eskaton). Starting in my own family, community, town, country, etc.
b. Immanent and transcendent. To begin in my heart, and end in eternity.
c. Today, the one - third of the world doesn't know about Jesus Christ and his Gospel. This is our responsibility.
d. The Islam is growing quickly, more than Christianity. This is very sad.
e. Jesus is waiting for us. He needs us. Latin America is the future of missions. Now, we are the senders of missionaries to the world: Praying, giving, and going.
f. We need to preach the abundant life around the world. No fear (28:31)

Conclusion & Application

We need to recover our responsibility in the mission. We are the people of God (1 Peter, 2:9-10). Who will go? This is the most important question for you and for me, right now. You need to make a decision today. Do you want to walk under the power of the Holy Spirit? Do you want to be a truth witness of Jesus? Do you want to go to the unreached? If you want to make this decision, I want to pray for you. Praise the Lord. Amen.

God has brought us to a place of service using our gifts... Anita is using her ability in Christian Education (part time); I am using my gifts of encouragement, counseling, preaching and teaching. I am President of the Ecuadorian Baptist Theological Seminary (Ecuadorian Baptist Convention), and Vice president & Legal Representative of PMM Inc in Ecuador. I am teaching, training, equipping, and discipling Ecuadorian churches & leaders who have a heart for reaching the unreached and outlying population with the gospel. Belen saw her first word: papa (daddy). It was a nice experience for us to listen for first time this sweet word. We are very excited and we give thanks to our Lord for her life. God provided medical and dental care for our daughters.

Anita is fine but little tired because she is helping to my sister Lourdes in her healthís crisis. Lourdes is receiving medical treatment for her Payne now. She says: "Thank you so much for your prayers for me and my family. See you soon (or late) in the Heaven, because the death is victory in Christ. I donít have fear; my Lord Jesus is going with me! But, Iím very sad for my kids, pray for them please" Amen..!

CHURCHES & UBC (Home Church)

Joselito visited New Life Baptist Church in Toachi, with the purpose to plan the coming of a ministry group from Kentucky, because we are going to work with them, and another churches around, in June.
Joselito preached in our home church in the Motherís Day about Ephesians 6:4.
We got ten bunk beds as donation for the pastoral training ministry in our UBC.
Joselito shared the second conference about Biblical Hermeneutics (5 hours) in Candelaria Baptist Church, and then helped on evangelistic campaign in Seven Stop Baptist Church (indigenous church)

ECUADORIAN BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY & EBC

Anita & I participated in the national congress for Baptist pastors. In this opportunity we finished the conversations with leaders of the Convention and Association, about the details of the agreement among them. The plan is walking very good! In May 27 we celebrated a special service, with the presence of the Conventionís Board, to start officially the academic activities in Quito.

Joselito was invited for the Publishing Baptist House from El Paso-Texas, for to write the Lukeís Commentary in Spanish. He accepted this task with humble. He needs to finish this work in May 2006. This is a wonderful opportunity to catch an old dream and to bless the Hispanic People of God. He is very excited and worried for this!! Pray for this big and new project, please. Praise the Lord!

PRAYERS REQUEST

Please pray for our next work team in June from Louisville, KY-USA.
Also, pray for the importation of the CCBP's books. We need to find the best way.
We are going to train finish the construction of our house, in the next months.
Pray for our country, because we need to return to a peace politic situation.

MISSIONARY PRAYER LETTER, APRIL 2005

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me"

FAMILY

Joselito celebrated his happy birthday with many emotions, gifts, and nice friends and partners in the missionary ministry. It is necessary to say, thank you so much to our friend David Sills and his work team, for this special time together. We are very excited because we are not alone in the life and the ministry. We have a big family around of the world!

CHURCHES

Joselito shared the first course of pastoral training in Candelaria Baptist Church, about Biblical Hermeneutics. Attended forty pastors and leadership of indigenous churches.
The first week of April, We received the visit a working visitors from Louisville Kentucky of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Five teachers sharing classes of Homiletics in the Gospels, Hermeneutics, and Bible study in Genesis, and Systematic Theology. The leader of this group was my big friend and partner Dr. David Sills, PhD. Attended seventeen pastors and leaders of nine churches of the country side. With this special week, we started our Pastoral Training School in our home church (UBC). It was a nice experience for to teach every day (eight hours) and to celebrate the glory of God every night with preaching, singing, praising and fellowship.
Joselito shared a Sunday school class in Saint Joseph Baptist Church, with the purpose of to introduce the LifeWay's materials and then preached in the service.

ECUADORIAN BAPTIST THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

I need to give thanks to our Deacons, teachers and students in all country. I received a last report and the news is very encouragement. We continue operating with blessings in the coast. In Quito it was signed the agreement between the National Convention and Local Association.

PALM MISSIONARY MINISTRIES-Ecuador

We continue praying for our boss Art Patray and his wife Barbara. She is little better but her medical condition is very critic. Pray for them please!

MISCELLANEOUS

I want to give thanks to my big friend Ralph Kurtenbach, because he is my editor in English. Thank you Ralph, I appreciate your help. Ralph and his wife Katy are missionaries with World Radio Missionary Fellowship (HCJB), working in Quito since 1992. Ralph is now the public relationship of his mission for Latin America.

PRAYERS REQUEST

We give thanks for a special donation of a washer machine and refrigerator. That's very necessary for us in our home. Praise the Lord for this opportune blessing!
Also we give thanks for Christian books donated for my partner Douglas & Diane Paratore. They returned to their country, after of their missionary job with us.
Thank for your prayers for my sister Lourdes. She is waiting for her life!! She is very bad. She has many payne in her body and is crying everyday. We are very sad!
